Not a Welcome Visitor!!

Admittedly not the best picture, but you get the idea!! My daughter and I had all four dogs out when Zippo started making a ruckus and made a beeline for the bushes. Chloe was not on a leash....she usually stays two feet from me! This time she decided to follow Zip. Not a good idea!! Of course, I thought they were both going after a deer...a common sight here in Northern NY. All of a sudden I see TWO Great Big Eyes looking at me and I grabbed Chloe and Meish and I got them all inside!! Then, I grabbed my camera and went back out to get Zip. I knew he wasn't going to come when called. Not when there is something that interesting!! Meish couldn't believe I was out there taking pictures. I SO had to blog about it!!! I built a fire last night and hope that it will keep the fox away!

Yeah, that is scary with all your little dogs. But it's kinda neat too - I have never seen a fox in the wild!

OH MY!!! We have lots of foxes around here, but I have never seen one close to the house!

Glad you were able to get the pups inside! I am surprised the fox didn't run! Oh, and hey, I would have grabbed my camera, too! Course, I would have been shaking with excitement!!!!

We get them around our house too. They don't bother Mushu but we've had coyotes this year...which means no fox this year...who have been coming right up to the house and Mushu is such a goof, he'll run right to the back when they start to howl. If he goes out at night I go out with him because sure as anything he'll run right into their trap.

How lucky you are to find such a critter in your garden! I've only ever seen a fox up close once and fox hunters were hot on his tail. I felt sorry for the little fella.

very cool! it was probably more afraid of you than vice versa. though, a kitty might be in trouble.

Oh!! Be careful!

I know what Joy is talking about - how coyotes will set up a trap between them and beckon any willing dog to go out - and then they all get together and get the dog. Horrible!

My brother has 3 cats - 2 of them are Himalayans and very precious. He took pics of the fox laying on the lawn in his backyard and won't let the cats out anymore. So sad for the cats. They don't understand!

I had them out one day when I was out there and everyone was away rafting. One of the Himalayans disappeared and I was looking for him. I went off into the deep grass of the neighbouring lot and a fox jumped up and trotted off! My heart flew into my mouth and I started screaming for Mr. Winston! I looked and looked and started to cry and whimper - and finally found him moseying along completely oblivious. I hugged him hard and won't/can't let him/them out anymore.

It is so sad as they love roaming about outside.

OH wicked! You won't see this here on these islands. I did spot a baby fox once, back home in Toronto, on a bitterly cold early Christmas morning at 5:00am, right in our front yard and we live in a busy version of suburbia. Haven't seen one since. I hope your dogs stay safe. Wouldn't want them to get in a scuffle or get hurt.

They are pretty animals but not one you want in your yard with your pups! What excitement!
