I liked it! I really liked it!! So many people said this movie was awful. The critics rated it a big thumbs-down. I never believe the critics and prefer to make up my own mind. I pay money to be entertained. And entertained we were. I also adore both Robin Williams and John Travolta...along with Kelly Preston and Rita Wilson!
Robin Williams and John Travolta are a great comedy team throughout this movie.
This movie will teach you some things:
* The value of a lifelong friendship
* The weird situations friends will sometimes get you in to
* Friends will stand by you ... no questions asked!
* Do not make a promise to a child unless you can actually make it happen
* Though you may not be a terrific parent in the beginning, you will get the hang of it eventually!
For all of the above reasons, both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Robin Williams and John Travolta are both going through very difficult times in their private lives. To see the two of them...along with John's wife...Kelly Preston and daughter...Ella Bleu...was a joy! In my opinion, they really shined in this movie made by Disney. We laughed our heads off and came out of the movie smiling!! It's a feel-good kind of movie that doesn't require deep thought. Just good old-fashioned comedy. Sure, some of the scenes were a bit corny...but we laughed all the same. It was a very enjoyable evening for us!
I must also mention that Bernie Mac made his last appearance in this film. He was such a terrific comedian and will be forever missed by all who loved him.
Overall, I recommend this movie for what it is...just a good time! A FUN Comedy!!

There are too many sad and depressing movies being thrown our way.. glad to hear there is something light hearted available.
I'll have to add that one to my list of things to see. Don't forget to plant the George Clooney bug in your husband's ear before next week's outing....:)
The cast in this movie sounds too good to pass up. Besides, I still have a spot for JT (and I'm sorry teeny bops, JT is still John Travolta, not Justin Timberlake!!), have had it since I saw his movies in the 80s as a child. Can't help but love him!
Hi nice review about the movie "Old Dogs"....I have not seen this movie, but your review forced me to watch Old Dogs movie, So I m very excited to see all enlightening stuff that are explained by you in this blog.
Cool - it's on my list!
sounds like you had a lot of fun!
I'm glad to hear something positive about this movie - I had wanted to see it - think I will wait to rent it, but am glad you liked it - it gives me hope!
I've probably missed my chance to see it in the theaters but I plan to see it when I can. I love both Travolta and Williams!
Well I am sooooo looking forward to it then! ... love all the actors involved also...
I often think we should just do away with movie reviewers. Wouldn't that be interesting? No pre-conceived idea of what to expect or of someone else's opinion - you excluded of course! I'm talking about people who think they know what a movie is supposed to be about! Not like us who just go out to be entertained.
