The Hurricane Sandy Visit

Here's a few views of what we did while waiting for "Sandy"...
Here are the girlz in the morning...wondering what on earth all that noise is???? (WIND)
I think the Weather Channel had us all hyped up over this coverage!!  But I headed out to the store for "supplies".  Always better to have stuff you don't need then to need stuff and not have it!!  I wish my daugher would listen to me about this!!!
This is what the girlz do when Mama is shopping!!  Nothing.  They. Just. WAIT.
And then the monsoons came...tons of water was streaming in through the front windows...we have lived in this house twenty years and never had this problem before!!!  We were not expecting that!!!
Very glad that the power stayed on as I was rotating towels through the spin cycle of the washer and the dryer...over and over and over again as it kept RAINING and RAINING!!

I can assure you this was not fun...but at least we had power!!  Those around us were not so lucky!!
The next day was spent caulking all around those windows so that should we ever get rain coming straight on out of the NORTH again...we won't have this same problem!!
Chloe still resting...she really hasn't been mobile for almost a week now...we are trying to keep her calm.  It was difficult with the noise from the storm.

Our hearts go out to those of you who don't have water or heat or food or gas...STILL.  Sure hope it gets turned on soon!!  They are still saying another week or so here.  My sister in law in NJ has no clue when their power will be back on.  Fortunately they have generators.  My brother in CT had a generator installed in his house after the last hurricane.  This time, he was so happy he didn't need it!!

Always a good idea to think ahead of time and prepare for disasters...one never knows!!

Mom so understands about rain coming through the window panes from wind and rain. We hope that the caulking took care of it for you so it won't happen again. We just can't believe the incredible destruction that this storm caused. It's so very very sad.
We hope you feel better soon, Chloe!

Love ya lots,
Mitch and Molly

Sorry to hear it was raining IN the house. Glad you kept your power at least. We also had an automatic "whole house" generator installed after the parade of hurricanes through Florida in 2004. Fortunately it's been an insurance policy against long power failures as it's only been activated a couple of times for short power outages.

Best of luck to all who did lose their power and we hope it goes on quickly. It must be getting cold up there.

I am so happy and relieved to hear that you and your family are safe and sound, because when I saw that NY was getting so hard, I was VERY concerned for you.

Yes, I too had some rain leakage through my windows because of the severe, gusty wind. And like you, I had towels on the ledges to absorb the water. I'm amazed that we didn't lose power. Utterly AMAZED!

Have a peaceful weekend, dear lady. Sending energy and love to Chloe.

Happy Friday, I am sorry for the mess from the storm, but thankful that you didn't get anything worse. I am so concerned for your Chloe; hope she is on the mend soon. I also wondered how you keep her tear stain clean?
Checking around with other Bichon owners to see if there are tricks.
Have a warm and cozy weekend.

I'm glad you and your family are safe. We are also feeling lucky that we only lost power for 3+ days and our home wasn't damaged. I hope the power is restored and those affected by the storm find the comfort and shelter that they need....

Take care!!

Keeping Chloe in our thoughts, hope she's doing better soon

Glad you all were safe.
It's always something different with each storm. We had a generator installed into the house utilities after the two hurricanes hit Gainesville a few years ago... and so far we have not needed to turn the big thing on.. thank goodness !!

Always good to be prepared .
