Fun Monday

The assignment for this Fun Monday is a favorite recipe.

Lisa the Food Snob, is hosting Fun Monday today. For the complete list of those participating, check out her blog.

Here's what Lisa the Food Snob says, "I want to see your favorite recipes be it either because your grandmother wrote it, it's the easiest thing you can slap together that everyone likes, it makes you feel healthy, it's cheap, etc.

I may not bake often, but this particular recipe fills my heart with such wonderful childhood memories that it is just heaven. Both my mother and my grandmother were exceptional cooks in every sense of the word. I burn everything and can't cook to save my life. But, when I'm really missing my mom and my grandmother, a quick batch of these things just does the body good. Coming home after school and smelling the house filled with cinnamon spice...Wow!

The recipe my mom used was just the original Betty Crocker Recipe. and it's all good!! Give it a try!! Ain't a restaurant anywhere that even comes close to the home-baked things...

Snickerdoodles:

They may have an unusual name, but these rich cinnamon-sugar cookies are great for the holidays or anytime you want a tasty cinnamon treat.

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1. Heat oven to 400ºF.
2. Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, the butter, shortening and eggs in large bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

(Total time will vary; cook or bake time is per batch.)

I love Snickerdoodles, but rarely make them. I think it is because my fall back recipe is gingersnaps, which will be on my post sometime Monday. Happy Fun Monday.

They look great, thanks!
Snickerdoodles are something I just never think to make, must mean I need to make them.
(Thanks for your post!)

Yum! It's been a long time since I've made these. I don't know of anything else that uses cream of tarter so I keep it just for the snickerdoodles!

(I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that is skilled at burning things!)

I've always 'heard' of Snickerdoodles but have never made them. I swear these cookies look like they'd go right fine with a cup of tea. I'm writing this one down!

**Hope Zippo is doing better and you TOO!!**

I love snickerdoodles. They remind me of my childhood at my grandmother's with tree top apple juice in the can.

We used to make these same Snickerdoodles from the BC cookbook. My sister had the recipe memorized and would come home after school and bake them. What a memory.
Thanks for taking me back!

Second time I've seen these this morning, I've never heard of them. I feel so deprived! They seem easy enough to make though, and they look good too.
