Not One Single Solitary One!!

Not even one. No Trick or Treaters. None. That's just depressing. Usually we have at least ONE. This whole Halloween was just weird. Weird I tell you. We bought a huge box of candy bars from BJ's just so that we would be prepared for the masses. You know because there are alot of new kids that moved onto our street. Or so we thought. I spent the day getting myself and Chloe all ready to go visit my Dad's house and my sister's house to "surprise" them for Halloween. Big Day! So I'm all outfitted in my witch's costume with my tall witch hat and Chloe is decked out in her Cheerleading Costume with the PomPoms on her front legs and on top of her head. I packed her stroller in the back of the Jeep. Her Pink Stroller. So that it would match her Cheerleading Costume. And, I also put in the little treat bags I made up of homemade dog biscuits for both of my sister's show dogs....she has Keeshonds. And over at my Dad's house....his two big dogs....made up treat bags for them too. Get all ready and we start off. Five minutes down the road...we have to stop. Chloe has to pee. Ok, back in the car and off to my sister's place. We park the jeep three houses down from her house, get out the stroller and Chloe. Get her settled in her stroller - which she LOVES by the way! I put on my witch hat and off we stroll three doors down to find. My sister's house empty. Nobody home. No dogs barking. Nothing. Crap. So, I unload all my stuff on her bench on the porch and leave it there with her Halloween card. Stroll back down the street, collapse the stroller, get Chloe back in the car, take off my hat as it is much too tall to drive in. Then, we are off to my Dad's house. Every single year we trick or treat at my Dad's. And I mean every year. We're not a close family, but everybody knows that I trick or treat at my Dad's every year. Come hell or high water. We go through the entire routine three houses down from HIS house. I pull up to the porch with the stroller and the front porch is CLOSED!!! Closed. Can you imagine????? There's a sign...don't ring the bell...it makes the dog's ears hurt. What?????? Oh, and there's a basket of homemade dog treats there too. So, I move the barrier out of the way and go to the door. Knock, Knock, Knock, KNOCK, KNOCK. Nothing. Then I try to break in through the garage because I know the CODE. The Security Code! He must have changed the damn thing. It doesn't work!! Now, can you tell, I'm getting a bit frazzled. So, around the house we go...sometimes my Dad doesn't hear to well. He is 80 years old. The car is in the garage with the lights on. So, I go around to the back and check the door. Nope. Locked. That's weird. He NEVER locks that back door. Tried all the rest. All locked. Meanwhile, I'm chatting it up with all the little ghosts and ghoblins that have come to Trick or Treat at Dad's. And, I am handing out candy in his neighborhood....is this weird or what???? Chloe is enjoying the attention of all the little kids. They were very cute! All little, little ones...I'd say under the age of seven. And Chloe's a hit with all of them. I stroll back to the car, talking and laughing with all the little kids AND their parents. Grab my phone. Start dialing Dad's. Still no answer. I tried fourteen trillion times. Finally, after staying for a little while enjoying all the little sights and sounds of trick or treat in a neighborhood, we get back in the car for our ride home...it's about 30 minutes. Stop at Kentucky Fried Chicken and back home again. At least we had great chicken. And, great memories of Halloween's past! And, how was YOUR holiday??
PS. The bear was not trick or treating with us. He was at the Chicago Zoo.

Oh what a bummer! At least you got to check out the little kids dressed up near your dad's place.

a) did you ever find your dad?

b) maybe chloe scared off all the kids. a bichon in a cheerleading outfit might be seen as scary to some!

c) we had way fewer trick or treaters than usual. but we did have about 30-40 kids. my favorite was the kid dressed up like a carrot. i love the homemade costumes.

Bummer. My Halloween was stressful. Miss Peach insisted on carrying her costume on a hanger, would not wear it. Whatever!!! Toddler logic...

Did you ever find him...your Dad, that is?

Don't you hate it when you make a plan and it all goes to hell in a handbasket?

Well, that was quite a disappointment for you especially with all your effort. Hopefully you will have better luck next year. At least there were the cute kids and the chicken.

That sucks. :(

We had 9 last night, but the last year was only 2 and the year before that was zero.

I love your new header too.

I have to agree that this year just seemed a little weird. So sorry you didn't connect with your sister and your dad, but I am sure they enjoyed the treat bags anyway. At least you got to socialize with the neighbors!!

The traffic here from the city was OUTRageous, so I took a back way home. When I finally arrived home, mine was the only car in the parking lot! Weird! No T or T'ers for me either. :-(

Not one trick or treater? :( Sad. I had none either but I was in a motel last night. :) I'm sure Chloe was so disappointed.

This seems to be a trend. You're about the fifth person I've read that is lamenting the absence of tick or treaters.
