Today's Subject: RV's!!

We've been toying with the idea for quite some time now on whether or not we wanted to purchase an RV. First, we thought we'd sell our house and purchase one of those really nice, huge RV's...the bus size one. Hell, if I'm going to sell my entire house, I'm going to need a place to put all my stuff. And it sure won't fit in my 1200 square foot cottage. Well, then we talked, and talked, and discussed some more. Came to the conclusion that we can't sell this house. We have too much stuff. My husband likes to play with cars. He needs the garage. Me....I need my studio. Can't do without that stuff. And we have to keep the cottage. I heart my cottage.

So, off we went to yet another RV Show that just happened to be in town. I don't know if I have any readers who are full time or part time RV'ers?????

I am NOT a camper. I do not like campsites. This RV must be self-contained. Able to park in the freakin-middle of the desert and be totally self-sufficient. BIG Generator. Big Water Tank. Big Waste Tank.

Honestly, we plan to use it for short trips....a week here or a week there. A drive to Minneapolis. Perhaps Cape Cod. I'd like to consider Santa Fe or Sedona. You see. We have a bichon frise. Chloe would not do well being "babysat" or boarded either for that matter. She must come with us! That's another reason for the RV. Years ago, we used to do ALOT of travelling. And we sure can't take the RV to Bermuda! But for short trips just to get away. Sure. It'll be fun. I'm not drivin' the thing. My husband will be doing the driving. Sometimes I have trouble with my Jeep. Seriously. That's big enough for me!!

So check out the pics and let me know what ya think! Pros / Cons?? I'm not that pleased with the color scheme. They don't make any cool colored RV's. We have seen one we really like. But it was more than a half a million dollars. Husband said...uh, no. But it was SO nice!!! I really liked it. You can see one like it here:

This is more in the price range we are looking at....realistically...

Crap! I should have at least showed the smaller one first....now the bottom one...is such a letdown...

Holy crap that first one is huge and asolutely geourgous. But realistically, the second one is just as nice. Maybe you could do some painting or decorating to make it a bit more modern and up to your liking.

I think you could do wonderful things with the smaller one too, and think of the fuel you'd save! I'm with you about the camping. My idea of roughing it is a motel that doesn't have dining and a lounge. :-)

Ha ha..you're talkin' to a girl whose idea of RV is a 77VW bus..remember? hee hee!

I always wanted to look inside one of those huge ones but never had the huevos...lol.

The 2nd one really looks very doable but then I spent 15 years in a semi truck with a 63" sleeper!

Oh yeah, I would sell everything for that first one. :) I've always wanted to just live in an RV. :)

Hey you better let me know before you come to Minneapolis. :)

my husband was saying about how much RV's kind of suck yesterday. He said that the gas mileage is like 5 MPG and the gas tanks are like 300 gallon. i have no idea if he's exaggerating or not, but that's EXPENSIVE!!!! a plant here is closing down because they're not selling enough -- that's why it came up.. sorry.. maybe you could try and find a diesel or one that would run on ethanol

I love both of them. I'd love to have the second one - it's wonderful!! This is so exciting - I can't wait to see what you get and hear of all the great places you travel too!! My Mom would love an RV and she's always telling me - "When you have an RV - you've arrived." She loves to travel. Good luck and thanks for all the nice comments on my site - you are a good friend. See you soon. Kellan

That RV is bigger than my NYC apartment!

Wow, that first one is amazing. I couldn't imagine it, but it would be fun for trips with everything there. I bet Chloe would love it too, even the smaller one.

Hey...if you can do it, and LIKE to do that sort of traveling, then do it. However, you might want to get a smaller one for now and see if you actually like the RV lifestyle. Many do, but you won't know until you try it. If you sell your house and buy a big RV and don't like it, you are stuck with a big RV and will be losing money selling it. But if you get a smaller one and find that you like the lifestyle, then spring for the bigger one.

We have a couple friends who have those big RV's and let me tell you, they are definitely home away from home RV's! Incredible. But there are one couple who wished they would have started off smaller because the big one is just 'too' big for them. I think once you get whatever one you decide on, you will have a ball. I think Chloe should get her own seat though :o)

the big one LOOKS great - but would you want to drive it? I'd have a nervous breakdown!
