Oprah's Interview with Tom Cruise

I will admit it...and some of you already know that I am a huge fan of Oprah. Tom Cruise used to be one of my favorite actors. Somewhere over the course of the last couple of years...he has sort of gone down in my book. I can't pinpoint exactly where, when or why. Just a combination of things I think. Perhaps it started on Oprah's Couch...you know...the jumping incident. Not sure about this whole Scientology thing. I don't like what I'm reading about it. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I think I will pick up a copy of Andrew Morton's Unauthorized Biography of Tom Cruise. Oh, and by the way, Tom is on Oprah again today at 4pm celebrating 25 years since Risky Business. Holy Crap, I can't believe it's been 25 years! But. I'm not getting any older. Ha.

Edited to add answer to the question of what I thought about the Telluride Interview:

I thought Tom's Telluride place was stunning! Absolutely breath-taking scenery. The first part of the interview seemed awkward to me. But then again, maybe it was. I don't believe that Oprah and Tom have spent much time together in the last three years...I'm not even sure if she was invited to his wedding. In my opinion, it was awkward at first. But I admire Oprah's ability to make people feel at ease. My sister has a niece who works for Oprah. She's really, really good to her staff. And I mean really good. If I had to pick one person I'd like to have dinner with, it'd be her. I think she's a great conversationalist. She's pretty down to earth. So, I believe that her and Tom settled into a sort of comfortable conversation after the first formalities were over and done with. I think that there was an agenda...certain questions that HAD to be answered for the interview to be a success. I also believe that is why they did part of the interview outside of the studio. All in all, I thought it was a good show. Still not sure about the whole Scientology thing or the fact that Katie seems a bit Stepford-like. They sure do seem like a happy couple though!! They honestly seem like a happy family. My husband feels that Tom is an actor...and many of his interviews are just that...playing a part. I'm not sure that I agree with him. I think Tom seems rather genuine...with the exception of his religion. My Blog. My Opinion! I guess time will tell if the interview brings the Cruise Factor back to life!

I watched that show the other day with Tom Cruise. I feel exactly like you - loved him and now - not so much. I think he's gotten so arrogant and that just makes me so sad and so mad - I used to just love him to death! I didn't change my opinion of him the other day in the interview - I so wanted him too, you know!

So nice to see you today Jeanne - hope you are doing well. I noticed you changed the name of your site - I like it - cute!! Take care and I'll see you around this week - Kellan

I think Tom has done so much damage to his reputation that his recent appearance on Oprah was so homey and down to earth (I saw a couple of videos posted on the web on him showing Oprah his home). Is it too late? Time will tell. But he does have charisma. I'll give him that!

What did you think of Oprah in Telluride on Friday? I thought he seemed kind of manic...

I always liked Tom but with anyone THAT rich and popular there will be some controversy. Seems he did get a little strange at one point. I only saw a snipet of the couch scene on Oprah as I don't watch her show too often, but the whole Tom/Katie thing seemed bizarre from the beginning. If they have turned into a happy family, that's fine. She seems to have changed ALOT... extra thin, with an almost sculpted body/hair look. She's not the fresh faced giggly girl anymore. She's transformed into the woman/wife/mother that he wanted her to be. Heck, wouldn't we all have done a few extra things if Tom popped the question. LOL

Not sure about the religion, seems a bit cultish like some others are. But to each his own.
I'll still watch him in movies and if I get home from my son's ortho appt. in time I'll check out Oprah today.

Have a terrific week!!

P.s. do you sell your cards? If so, how did you do for Mother's Day? I have another fair this weekend which cuts it very close, but I was surprised more of them didn't go last Saturday. Some sold... but you know, a handmade greeting to me for a Mom seems like such a lovely thing. I wanted to sell out!! LOL

You have to read that book, I have read it (borrowed it from the library) and it is quiet an eye opener. I still adore Tom Cruise.

Couldn't agree more! Since he jumped off that couch he makes me twitch just a bit! And YES, I love my O.

I could always take Tom or leave him. Liked a lot of his roles but you know, just another actor. But, I always loved Katie Holmes, I adored her and feel she lost a lot of her innocence through Tom. :(

I think I'd like to watch Oprah if I could remember what time and channel her show came on. I don't get control of the remote around her often enough to remember much of what's on or when. As for Cruise, used to like his movies but not so much anymore.

I'm late in commenting to this but I did watch today's Oprah...May 5th and I really enjoyed it. I've always liked Tom Cruise and have felt like reaching through the tv and hugging that man sometimes. What the media has put him through is incredible and how he keeps smiling and coming back is something I'll never understand. Personally I would have been rolled up in the fetal position in a corner some where sucking my thumb if I ever had to endure what he's had to. But he loves making movies and he won't let anyone stop him and it's something I admire about him. People keep trying to kick him down, but he never let's it get him and he keeps picking himself back up. I saw an interview once where a classmate said he was the boy everyone picked on and bullied and he did the same back then. Just kept coming back and trying to be everyone's friend. It's amazing really and you wonder how he does it.

I have been a fan of his, but some of the Scientology stuff I have seen has made me a bit uneasy. I think he does have a lot of charisma, and it it interesting what Joy said about being bullied when younger. I have to wonder what the bullies are thinking now as they drink beer in their trailer parks.
