How Empty My Life Would Be.....

If I didn't have my dogs...

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.
When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading
through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking
into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get
comfortable.

I would have money ... and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put
their yet unborn grand kids through college.
I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties
them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading
'mud' season.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: sweetie, wanna
treat?, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or
barriers.

My house would not look like a day care centre, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an
extra leash.

I would no longer have to Spell the words W-A-L-K, B-A-L-L, T-R-E-A-T,
G-O, R-I-D-E.

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many
animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of
knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel
as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!

Except for the hair on flat surfaces, your life sounds like mine with the grandchildren. Well,,,and the spelling thing only works for a couple of them now.

The next time someone asks you why, tell them "because my hearts big and I can."

Well spoken!!!! I love this. All so true. Our pets are just like our kids. We think what life was like before them and suddenly realize what a big puzzle piece would be missing had we not gone out on a limb to own them.(or rather THEY own US!) When I am so shaken by things out of my control, there is nothing more comforting than a look from them and snuggling with them. I often say that to look into the endlessly loving eyes of a dog is to almost have glanced into the eyes of God....

Oh, I totally agree ! And I can add one more and you witnessed at my place today...

I would not have trash strewn all over my kitchen floor...

...but, without them, I would not be as happy and healthy as I am.

Too cute! I only have one cat and I know what you mean! We can't cook dinner without hearing pitiful little meows and tripping over him, despite the fact that he was fed before we were and his food is in the same room. :-) Just think of all the hugs, snuggles and kisses you would miss too!

Oh the leaves, I get so tired of the leaves coming in. :) And I cannot spell o-u-t, Brodi can spell it too. :)

It is incredibly empty and quiet and sad.

Every morning the day stretches long and lonely.

Every night the bed is colder and the other side of the pillow has no depression or fur on it anymore.

It is nothing but horrible.

This is such a beautiful post!!!!

Hubby and I will eventually get one that's hypoallergenic, since he's allergic. But we both love dogs and see the unconditional love in their eyes. You are so lucky!

Aw, what a cute photo of the pups!

I do think that when the future looks bleak andoverwhelming, we need to count our blessings, too. Even in the very worst of situations, we have so much to be thankful for and about.

Good thoughts, for sure!
