Travel Planning

I have started planning our extended trips and am currently surrounded my maps of Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. These are all of the places we will be visiting....

Some places we are just stopping for an overnight, some places for fourteen nights at a shot. Unless we hate it when we get there!! One never knows....sometimes the websites just make it look SOOOOO much better than it actually IS. And of course, we are travelling with THREE dogs...two little and the Big Guy. Many insurance companies do not allow more than two dogs. And the Big Guy doesn't get around very good anymore, so we cannot be very far away from the "walking spot".

Oh.....I am so looking forward to beaches and sun and sand and birds. I don't even care if I have to cook in a kitchen the size of a thimble. It's somewhere away. We haven't been away since 2003! I know there are many people who don't go away very much and I shouldn't complain as I have been quite fortunate to be able to spend summers at the cottage every year for the past ten years.

But to actually leave the state. For an extended period of time. Sounds pretty damn good to me!! I am very excited and am currently stocking up on all kinds of items to pack the RV with. I don't know where we are going to put everything, but I'm gettin' pretty creative with little storage things!

Wireless is going to cost a fortune!! Some places are actually getting TEN DOLLARS PER NIGHT!!! Gotta figure something out there....I can't be without my laptop, but we're already paying for broadband at the house and the cottage. Not sure what other options there are. I've been thinking about one of the Broadband cards offered by Sprint. Maybe.

Any ideas???

Hello, I saw your comment at WT's. I have not seen you around for a while and came for a visit. I hope that your travel plans go well. We do not get to travel much either. Take care.

Sounds like you are having so much fun planning. HATE planning! Yes, I am the spontaneous one that is always walking around, looking like she is in a FUNK cause everyone else planned EVERYTHING out!!! hehehe (well, at least I have my camera!!!)

I would NEVER pay 10 bucks a night for innyet! That is crazed!!! I would check out the Sprint plan for sure!!!!!

I'd check into the Sprint thing too, $10 is quite steep.

I can't wait to see your travel photos! I just know y'all are going to have a blast.

I think you need to add Colorado to that list as well. We have beautiful mountains, you know.

As for wireless, what about checking out the public libraries in the areas you'll be visiting. Many of them offer free wireless. All you have to do is turn your laptop on and you'll be hooked up.

sounds like you need to get out and be free! the sprint cards work well, from what i hear.

aren't there any coffee shops where you're going? also, crazy places that you wouldn't realize offer wifi free. libraries, some laundrymats, etc.

another idea is to look at http://www.wififreespot.com/. they list free wifi spots all over the place.

Your extended vacation sounds wonderful!

I am able to retrieve my emails and get on line on my phone through sprint. I think it costs an extra $15 a month? I don't post on my blog or anything, but I do check the weather, read my email, find out directions, etc.

Happy New Year!

I love your new look!!

How excited to be planning this wonderful trip! I have one of those Sprint cards - LOVE IT - Best investment we ever made and they now are a lot more reasonable plans than when I got mine last year.

Take care - Kellan

Your trip should be such fun! $10 a night seems outrageous! I have no solution but I do know that if you use a Starbucks gift card you can "register" it online and then use free internet at all the Starbucks as long as you use the card once a month.

Oh and hubs and I occasionally have to spoof signals from motels, if you feel like hanging out on a motel parking lot for a bit that could work.

Found you through a comment on another blog. I don't have any great suggestions for you. I usually just take my laptop to a coffee shop or somewhere that has free wireless. I'm cheap like that! I hope you have a great trip.

Nice extended vacation you are going on.

As for internet...try a Starbucks. I know there are a number of other coffee places that have free internet. There are internet cafes too.

OH hooray for you. Going away is always fun!
When does the fun begin??
To second 'silvieon4', VA is pretty nice. We are hoping to go back maybe this Spring/Summer. After the big Cancun Spa trip we won't be going anywhere far for some time and VA we can do in a long weekend.
And speaking of Mt. Trashmore... I was there when I was young and visiting my family in Norfolk.

Wherever you go I'm sure it will be wonderful and I can't wait to see your pictures.
