Surprise!

Took the dogs out and look what greeted us!!!

Any ideas on what it IS????

It is THE weirdest bug I think I've ever seen here!!

I wasn't able to get a good view of the front...he had these weird tentacle-like things that were kind of orange colored.

Chloe was kind of interested but freaked out too!!

LadyBug could not have cared less.

Typical.

My guess it is a caterpillar.
In time perhaps a lovely
swallowtail butterfly.

Hi Jeanne! My Chloe would have been freaked out too :-) My curiosity was peaked since I just did The Butterfly House and this is what I found~ it's an Automeris Io Moth caterpillar...

It's definitely a caterpillar, but I have no idea what kind. Looks like a large moth type. How pretty!...

Is it green worm?
I woulda freaked out too.
In the previous post I love the photo that had Chloe and Ladybug's hair blown by the wind.
And thanks for the top TEN toxic stuff for dogs. I didn't know mushrooms are toxic!
Cheers!

That is incredible!!! It looks like some kind of caterpillar someone might have imagined in a sci-fi flick!!! Way cool! It does look like the Automeris Io is the correct ID.

Fantastic macro shots, Jeanne!!!!
