Please take note of these items and work to ensure your dog doesn't have access to things like this at home. I'd venture to guess that most of these dog owners thought their dogs would never eat things like this - but as they found out the hard way, they do. Just the other day I saw a dog that ate a sock and the owners swore he didn't. The dog was 10 years old and had never eaten anything before. The point is, you can't be too careful.

These are not just examples .... these items were ACTUALLY removed from the stomachs of dogs and cats that were insured.  These items are from the insurance company files.

OK. Leroy has eaten 9 of the things on this list, or at least part of them. Thankfully though they all passed.
Before Leroy, I never had a dog that would eat undigestable items, he has been my learning tool and I am A LOT more careful about what is within his reach!
This is a great post! Just the other day at work we removed a penny from a cat's intestines. These things really do happen.

We have heard horror stories of what dogs eat and what happens when they do. Luckily the pups here will mostly chew and destroy but not eat. Ciara is a professional destuffer, but she just leaves it all on the floor. But one can never be too safe. One we see chewing of a no-no going on, it is removed immediately. Luckily because of all the little ones running around here, this house is pretty child and pup proof.

Great advice, wonderful post.

Eww!! I know a dog that ate a condom once but it came out naturally ... !

Good thing Chloe is only interested in things like bread and white meat chicken. She knows what's what when it comes to edibles. Still I am careful. Who needs a vet bill over that other stuff?

Some of these items are just awful! How scary. I learned a long time ago that anything on the floor or actually in the dogs reach is theirs for the taking or playing with. I've learned to animal proof the house and luckily never had any of those issues. Phoebe is really into the bark or the grass in the backyard. I read that dogs don't always eat grass to get sick but they actually like the taste and likes a fun salad. haha

Hope you're having a good day.
Hugs,
Holly

Our friends had a rock eater.
They couldn't let the dog outside.
Eventually it got out and ate so many that they had the vet put her down.

WE were sad...
I wonder what the dog whisperer would have done
