Google Friend Connect...To Be or No???

There has been much discussion in the blogosphere regarding Google Friend Connect.

It appears to me that many of us that have been experiencing problems with Blogger...are probably having these issues because Google and Blogger are working on a new Google Friend Connect...called Following. You can read more about it here!!

Since I am on the Blogger Platform and have been since the very beginning (four years ago) I was freaking out because I thought I'd lose all of the Followers I had managed to build up over time. So, I started adding widgets to my blog...I created a page on Facebook and added the Networked Blogs Badge.

Now, I can heave a sigh of relief as I have discovered that my followers will not be affected by these changes. Wordpress was interesting to me and I had considered making that move...but to be perfectly honest, I'm just afraid to move platforms. There's been so much time and energy channeled into this blog, that I cannot even imagine it all being wiped out in an instant! I know it can be.

I just don't want to think about it!

In other news, PICNIK is going away!!! How awful is that???? I loved Picnik!!! I've found a ton of new photo apps on my iphone, but I'm going to miss Picnik!!

Woof! Woof! Blogger is making lots of changes due to Google+. GFC will be access only by Blogger. We moved our blog to WP.org and LOVE it! Mom customized my blog. What's you goals on blogging? ... from there you can decide to move or not to move platform. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

I am staying with Google.
We can back up our fave posts in various clever ways.
But life is short, and even though I LOVE having my stuff here, I know nothing in the world is permanent, including ME. Life is too short, I've already used my quota of worry, so I'm gonna enjoy blogging and if it gets wiped out (unlikely) I'll start a new blog, contact my online pals, and go forward.

I don't think I would find WordPress
as appealing as the old blogger...
have to wait and see with all this
shuffling about.. I don't like the way Picasa has changed.

I would hate the thought of having to start all over with my blog. I guess I just wait it out and see what happens

I am pretty confused by all of the platform stuff, meaning I dont get it at all. I would hate to loose all my followers though and I agree I would be scared to change platforms too

Hey Bichon mommy.

Google is trying to make Blogger a more social media friendly place so I'm not surprised if they'll be including widgets.

I've tried Wordpress but since I like Blogger's customizations, and user-friendliness, I stuck to it.

I'm thinking about moving before getting too many followers. But learning a new formatting system seems like so much work that I don't want to go through right now.

I so hear you on this, Jeanne. Blogger is making so many changes lately, it's hard to keep up. I don't use Google+ or the Following widget on my blog, therefore I'm not familiar with this issue. However, I do know that Blogger makes changes without ever really testing them out before making them live.

I too have thought about moving over to WP in the past. I actually have another blog over there. But I will tell you, WP has it's issues too. I love their commenting format, but unless you're willing to self-host, you don't have nearly the creative template freedom that we do on Blogger. You also cannot advertise on their blogs unless you self-host. Also, they can actually place ads on your blog unless you pay to have them removed.

Blogger has it's issues, yes, but I still think (until I'm ready to self-host) it's perfect for me.

I use to use Picnik too, how sad to hear that. I know use Lunapics.com and it's great.

Have a wonderful day, dear lady!

Seems like there are a lot of changes going on. Guess we'll have to wait and see if they're good changes or bad changes.

Have a great week!

I am overwhelmingly dismayed at the departure of Picnik. LOVED IT!!!! I did note that all the Premium features of Picnik are available till they depart.

I will miss Picnik like crazy!! GREAT FEATURES, I would even PAY to keep it.

I am not a widget person, nor am I about to do Google Plus. Not sure about that stuff.

I hear you Jeanne! I just am so overwhelmed by all this new stuff coming out and I find it very difficult to keep up! I don't know anything about google + although I am a member. I have been thinking about switching over to WP but it is so overwhelming, I even went searching for someone to do it all for me so I don't have to deal with it! So confused!!!
