Monday Mischief: The Car Version

It is not a secret that bichons love to be with their people.  They were bred for companionship and do NOT like to be left alone.  EVER.

As you all know though....there are times that they must be left alone.  We experience "issues" with separation anxiety when we travel because if we want to go out for dinner or lunch, we leave the dogs in the air conditioned RV until we return.  We have a time limit.  They are never left for more than four hours.  That is an absolute hard deadline.

Many people do not understand why.  Most people in fact.  Friends of ours say..."how can you live like that??"  The answer is easy.  Chloe and LadyBug have feelings.  Real, honest to goodness feelings and we do not like to hurt them.

When we leave them alone, they get hurt.  It is as simple as that.  Of course, they get over it because they are overjoyed when we return!!  We can be gone four minutes or four hours, their excitement is exactly the same!!

Well...to get to the point of this story...the girls can look out the windows and they know very well just what mode of transportation we take when we leave.  Yesterday, upon returning from lunch, Ben opened the door to the RV and the girls came charging out to the car....I was just gathering a few things and he knew that they would run DIRECTLY to me. Which they did.  They jumped in to the car and absolutely, positively refused to get OUT of the car!!  In their minds, if that vehicle is going to take their mom and dad away...then they were going to stay in that car and then they wouldn't have to be left alone...EVER!

It literally took us about a half an hour to get them out of the car!!

Lesson learned...All car doors must be closed before the RV door is opened!!

Please enjoy the pictures I took of the girls' taking the car hostage!!

LOL, that's cute. I had a chocolate lab years ago that would jump in the car if you left the door open and the only way to get him out was to drive him around the block first. He LOVED car rides

Clever girls we say. Peeps hates leaving me alone and as I don't like it either and if she has to be away too long someone keeps me company. We pretty much organise everything so I am seldom alone. Have a marvellous Monday.

Best wishes Molly

You girls are smart! Our mommy and daddy never left Sadie home alone for more than four hours either. All trips out of the house were timed so that they'd be home before that. Mommy still tries to come home as soon as she can for us too but since we have our litterbox, she does leave us for a little longer but never, ever alone overnight. Ever.

Me and Stanley love to be with our pawrents and are together most of the time. When they MUST leave us I am calm about it but Stanley keeps saying they will NEVER come back. I keep telling him they will but he never believes me until they walk in the door. Then we both are so happy!

Your Pals,

Murphy & Stanley

Taking the car hostage. Now that is a new one for us. You girls are too cute.

Millie & Walter (who are super lucky because we are practically never left alone due to our retired parents...who have no social life ;-) )

Hysterical pics! My cockatoo's are the exact same way. People always query me about the fact that I won't leave them alone for more than 4 hours as well. I give the same answer that you do. And I also think that what I get back for my trouble is well worth it! Blessings, Tia

Exactly, Jeanne! And so many people (who have never had a pet, like a dog or cat) can't understand that. But they do having feelings. And they also love, which many people think animals are not capable of.

Hope you're having a super time on your trip!

X to you and the girlz!

Awww, we bet they would love to go everywhere with you, but with the heat of the summer coming up, you just can't take chances. Mom and Dad understand our feelings too and try very hard not to be gone for long either. Great for all of us and you to have such good parents:)

Hi Y'all!

I don't like my Humans to leave either. However, since Chessies are a working as well as a companion breed, we will accept being left behind. When the Humans are going to leave me, they pay me in a treat from each. I know when they have the keys and my Human her purse and they pay me I'm gettin' left behind. I just curl up and go to sleep. Of course when they return, I give them a good scolding for being away so long!!!

Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
