#PetSafe Raises Awareness for Pet Hydration Month with the Drinkwell Avalon Fountain

~Disclosure:  PetSafe provided me with this fountain for the purposes of review.  No other compensation was received  All opinions are my own and PetSafe is not responsible for the content of this review.~

Did you know that your pet needs one ounce of water per pound of body weight each day?

 Are you aware that
many pets instinctively prefer to drink moving water?

PetSafe® is sponsoring Pet Hydration Awareness Month in July to help educate pet parents about the importance of proper pet hydration.

“These hot summer days can cause even the healthiest of pets to suffer from dehydration, heat stroke or sunburn,” said Willie Wallace, CEO of Radio Systems® Corporation, makers of the PetSafe brand. “Therefore, it’s extremely important that pet parents take extra precautionary steps to help keep their pets healthy and hydrated this summer.”

Essential to a pet’s overall health and well-being, water supports vital organ functions and is responsible for important bodily functions including digestion and waste removal.

A pet’s body is made up of 80 percent water, and can result in serious health issues if a pet becomes dehydrated.

To help pet parents understand the health risks of dehydration, PetSafe brand has developed an infographic outlining important facts about pets and proper hydration. The infographic illustrates the recommended daily water intake for pets – one ounce per pound of body weight – as well as the steps to take if a pet becomes dehydrated.

“Dehydration occurs when fluid levels drop to less than normal, due to either reduced water intake or increased fluid loss,” Wallace said. “Always make sure your pet has access to plenty of clean, fresh water, especially when traveling or exercising with your pet, or whenever they’re outside for any period of time.”

Another way to ensure pets are receiving enough clean, fresh water daily is with the use of a pet fountain. Some pets, specifically cats, prefer to drink from a moving water source.

Giving pets filtered, oxygenated water entices them to drink more and get the proper hydration that is essential to their health.

We also have the PetSafe Drinkwell Pagoda Fountain in Blue...you may remember we reviewed it last year.  Chloe has to "check" out the new fountain to see if it is the same as "her" other fountain.  Once she realized it really has AWESOME tasting water...she took to it right away!!

Go ahead and pick up one of these fountains for your furry friend today...you will love the simplicity of cleaning it and assisting with your pet's hydration as well!

Personally, I love the sound of it...it sounds like a meditation room!!

And just as a reminder...here are a few MORE tips regarding Pet Hydration from PetSafe!!

I love the fountain or water bottle style bowls but I've got two monkeys that like playing in the water and it becomes more issue for mom and cleaning up constantly. Lol!
