Face It...We Are All Noseblind Sometimes! #petiquette

**This post is sponsored by Febreze ™ and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about #Petiquette but BICHONPAWZ only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Febreze is not responsible for the content of this article.**

It is not a secret to any of us that our pets can cause our homes to have a bit of an odor.  The thought occurs to me each and every time we have guests over.  I have actually asked some of my closest friends whether they notice a "doggy odor".  The fact is ALL of my friends have pets of one kind or another...so we are ALL noseblind to some degree!  I read an interesting statistic that 60% of pet owners say that they would be embarrassed if guests were smelling wet dog / dog odors / kitty litter or urine accidents.

It is a very well known fact that bichons, in particular, do NOT like to go outside if it is raining.  They simply do NOT like to get their feet wet.  That has, on occasion, led to some "accidents" on the living room rug.  It's not something we like, but it is a fact of life as a bichon frise owner.  I understand that many other small breed dogs are the same way.  This is where Febreze comes in VERY handy!!  I often spray Febreze™ Air Effects around in all of the rooms just to freshen the air a bit.

Chloe and LadyBug also have a stockpile of "stuffies" in every single room of our house.  They also have beds in every room.  I often spray Febreze Fabric Refresher on the "toy bins" and on the bedding.  It's amazing the difference Febreze makes!!  It truly does make a home feel guest-ready!

Honestly, Febreze is a MUST HAVE in every pet owner's home!  It doesn't just cover up the odors, but truly eliminates odors leaving a nice and clean, fresh-smelling home.

I was also surprised to learn recently that according to a recent survey, pet odor actually ranks HIGHER than cigarette smoke in terms of offensive odors in the home.  Noseblindness occurs when we become so accustomed to the smells in our own home that we can't detect these distinct odors.

I'd also like to mention that the Febreze Car Vent Clip has been very handy to me as well.  Sometimes, Chloe has issues with car sickness and let me tell you...I am ever so grateful I had not only the Febreze Car Vent Clip, but also the Fabric Refresher as I had to pull off of the highway to clean up the backseat!  It would not have been a pleasant ride home, without both the Febreze Air Vent Clip and the Febreze Fabric Refresher.

Where I use Febreze Fabric Refresher the most is spraying all of the dog beds and crate pads we have, along with the blankets covering the living room couches and our bed.

The Febreze Air Effects spray works particularly well in the kitchen also!  My husband likes to make dehydrated liver treats for the girls.  I am NOT a fan of liver in any way, shape, or form...so I'm right there with my trusty Febreze bottle spraying here and there and any guests that come in have no idea that the "Chef" has been cooking up some liver treats!!
We learned a lot from the Febreze School of Petiquette Curriculum...here are just a few examples...

Excitement Overload:
We do our best to house train but occasional accidents are bound to happen.  If Fido has an accident in the house, first clean the area and then use Febreze Air Effects not just to mask the smell, but to truly eliminate any lingering odors.

Cozy Couch
Some of us have a hard time keeping pets off the hard-to-wash upholstered furniture… So if your German shepherd thinks he’s a lap dog and likes to cuddle up next to you, keep Febreze Fabric Refresher handy to instantly remove his dog smell from the couch fabric and pillows. With the odor gone and a light, fresh scent remaining, your couch-sitting guests will have no idea they have just stolen Fido’s secret sleep spot.  My dogs love snuggling up on the soft comfy couch so I'm using Febreze Fabric Refresher to keep the couch smelling fresh!

The Brush-Up
Pets can undergo an elevated amount of shedding in the spring and fall even if you brush them once a day as recommended.  Leaving your guests covered in fur is a #Petiquette faux pas.  Consider purchasing a vacuum with a good air filter that is made specifically for addressing pet hair and dander.  After vacuuming, give your carpet and upholstery a spritz with Febreze Fabric Refresher to tackle the odors trapped deep in the fabric and leave behind a light, fresh scent!

Carpooling Kennel
Dogs love car rides. But while they are propping their head out the window, enjoying the rush of wind through their fur, they may also be ensuring your otherwise tidy car smells like a kennel. Keep your ride fresh for your carpool pals by attaching a Febreze Car Vent Clip to your air vent for continuous odor removal. For an extra dose of freshness, break out the Febreze Fabric Refresher and use it on your fabric seats.

I use Febreze. It's amazing how you don't notice the smells sometimes. When I've been out of the house for a while and first walk back in it'll sometimes hit me that yes, a dog lives here....lol
