Romeo and Juliet Arrival!!

It has been an exciting couple of days around here...let me tell you!!

We have welcomed in to our home two Bichons that I adopted from the Bichon Frise Club of America Charitable Trust.  They belonged to a man who was going to assisted living and sadly, would not be able to keep his dogs.  His only request was that he wanted them to be adopted together and that they go to a good home.

When LadyBug passed away, I was absolutely, positively devastated.  My world came crashing down that day.  I couldn't even function.

I sent out many notes to people asking if anyone knew of a Bichon in need of rescue.  Yes, there were one or two that were interesting...but the rules are so very strict from some of the rescues...it made me wonder if they really wanted to find the dogs good homes.  I have a friend in CT who forwarded me a picture of a little Bichon brought in as a stray and I had already inquired about Romeo and Juliet so I drafted a note out to the woman who had Coconut and told her I may be interested...I'd let her know.  Then, I had another one in VA that I was potentially interested in but there were some logistical issues we would have had to work out.  There was a man in Arkansas...a disabled vet...who was looking to rehome his two little Bichon / Maltese companions.  They were just 5 and 6 years old and in perfect health.  They had all of their own beds, toys, crates, strollers, etc...and he would pay for them to be brought to me.  But, something kept telling me...Romeo and Juliet were meant to be here.  So, I filled out the application and waited to hear next steps.  They had to go through a couple of vet appointments and dentals and they ended up staying at Debbi's house in PA for FIVE Weeks!

I wasn't sure I could handle one more second!!  I was really getting anxious and excited for the dynamic duo to arrive!

Debbi and I kept up daily chatter with photos and videos so that I could see them in action!  That was SUCH a huge help!  Whatever did we do before videos??

So, last Thursday, Ben, me, and Chloe hopped in to the RV and headed on down to PA to fetch our new little family members.  We spent an enjoyable couple of hours with Debbi and Steve and they turned over my new little fluffs!  Debbi and Steve were absolutely FABULOUS in that they answered a ton of questions from me and were very patient in explaining the medication schedule they were both on...antibiotics / painkillers...due to their dentals and Romeo had a fatty lipoma removed.

I think Chloe was VERY confused as she normally travels great in the RV.  But, for some reason, she was very nervous on the way down to PA.  Maybe she just sensed something was up?  I tried to sit down and have a discussion with her to let her know that we were going to be picking up her new siblings...but I am not sure how much of that she understood.

Well, when we arrived and Romeo and Juliet joined us in the RV, I sensed a change in her behavior and she was absolutely fine on the way home!  Now, these two little characters have taken over every single bed and blanket and pillow in this house but Chloe doesn't seem to mind at all.  She is sitting back...watching...taking it all in!  This afternoon we all took walks around our property...and she seemed to be really enjoying having buddies!

So...there you have it friends...the rather complicated story of how Romeo and Juliet arrived in our home.

We are just thrilled that they are here and we love them already!

And

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DAD's!!

I was also so sad for you when you lost your precious Lady Bug. But this story, once again confirms in my heart what I already know, that sometimes things happen for a reason. So many times we have had a loss in our household that afterwards brought to us a pup that was meant to be with us - A proverbial door closes, and another one opens -- You have opened your heart and home to Romeo and Juliet and they are where they are supposed to be. I'm so happy for all of you, and know that Lady Bug is happy and smiling for you as well.

Saw this on twitter and was thrilled for you. Can't wait to get to know them.

I also agree some rescues have seemingly impossible rules.

I love them and couldn't be happier for y'all. I know when my Golden Retriever Tucker left us, it was Pierre that brought back happiness to Bentley, my husband and me. Give Romeo, Juliet and Chloe a kiss from us!

OMG....am sooooooooooooooooooooo happy and excited for you, Jeanne! And it touches me so much that you adopted these two from someone who needed to find them a good home. And they couldn't have picked better and more caring people than you and your husband! I LOVE their names - Romeo and Juliet!!!! What CUTE, CUTE dogs!!!!

And I am very happy to hear that Chloe has adapted well and is welcoming them into their new home.

As you sense, there was something telling you that it was MEANT for Romeo and Juliet to be with you and you were right!

Again, I am so very happy for you and your new precious family members!!!!!

X to you, my friend!

We're so glad to hear you found not one, but two doggies to add to your family! Hooray! We've thought about getting a puppy this summer, or adopting a rescue, but with ghostwriter's bad knee problems, we decided to wait a bit. I miss having another doggie in the house.
