We cannot figure out why on earth they always show up on the mailbox at the cottage...

But, lo and behold...went out yesterday and there they were!

The big surprise this year...

There were FOUR of them!!

We never, ever find them anywhere else EXCEPT on the mailbox.

It is the strangest thing!!

Visitors & Lyme Update

Hello Everyone!  Here is a picture of Miss Chloe upon her arrival home after her Lyme Diagnosis.  She was just REALLY glad to be out of the Dr. Office and back home in her own environment!!  The doxycycline seems to be working and she is able to walk on all four legs now...fingers crossed that the meds continue to work!

 LadyBug has been quite worried about Chloe, but I snapped this photo while she was trying to hide from the major thunder and lightning we were experiencing!

We have family visiting from Minneapolis this week and we are celebrating birthdays!!

Since the kids live so far away, we do not get to spend birthdays together very often...the last one we celebrated was when we were in South Dakota a couple of years ago.

This guy....is 21!!!  

Where did the years go????

It seems like yesterday...he was here celebrating his 10th birthday!!

In this photo, the little guy (who is NOT so little anymore) is demonstrating his new birthday present!

It is amazing how fast the kids pick up this stuff now!!

We had tried to get on that thing the day before and almost broke a hip standing still!  :)

She got some quality one on one time with us today on the boat!!

It has been so unbelievably HOT here...not very common for this time of year in Northern NY!!

Peaceful Serenity

My daughter and Beemer have come for a visit and we took a trip to the end of the road to watch the sunset...

It was a very hot and humid day, but cooled off nicely by the time we were heading off in to the sunset...

Beemer is very comfortable wherever he may be...even on rocks!!

He woke up just in time to say hello to some of the other people who had come out to watch the evening sunset.

They built a very large private RV Park at the end of our road several years ago.  You have to drive over the causeway to an island to get there, and we really were not too happy at the time.  We felt as if they were destroying our peace and quiet!

  While it is true that our little country road certainly became busier...and at times...seems more like a highway, it is tolerable.  A couple years ago, the private owner sold the park to KOA.  Actually, we prefer it now!  The owners of the KOA have been very pleasant to those of us who live here and do not give us any grief about taking pictures of the sunset from "their" rocks or driving over the causeway to catch a better shot!  The prior owners were not so friendly...let me tell you!

Shake!  Shake!  Shake!!

Such a peaceful event...a great way to end the night!

Changes...

We are doing a bit of back and forth driving to the cottage due to some personal issues we have going on at home.  So, we haven't put out very many of our decorations and I haven't planted any annuals yet this year.   Because we are unsure of our schedule, I can't be sure that they would be taken care of.

There have been SO many changes in our little "neighborhood" at the lake this year.  We have had the same neighbors since we've had the place...1979.  Last year was the first summer that our oldest neighbors sold their cottage.  It was a difficult adjustment for us as we have known several generations of the family, but the place was just getting too big for them to take care of.  We were all a little heartbroken when their cottage sold.  We were very fortunate in at that a great local farming family purchased three of the cottages here!  They are a young, growing family and we are looking forward to getting to know them better!

One of our closest friends has been diagnosed with a disease and we are all trying to adjust to the changes that will bring.  The neighbor next to us has had MS for many years and this year is the first year that he has not been able to come up to his place.  Apparently, over the winter, his license was taken away and he has no way to get back and forth anymore.  

As the neighbors all around us are contemplating whether or not to sell, we are adjusting to the changes.  I should say...we are adjusting the best we can.  It is difficult as we have all built strong relationships and we will miss them!

As we come up each time, I have been taking photos of the perennials as they are all in different stages of growth.  Many of our trees and flowers did not grow as we expected they would...probably because we have had the strangest weather!  It has actually been in the 40's at night here!!  This is JUNE and the daytime temps today are only supposed to be about 60.  We have even had the heat on the last two nights!

The picture above was taken outside the little store where we purchase milk and bread...a little neighborhood store.  That guy you see in the last photo....he is my new buddy...what do you think??  :)
