New Year's Eve and Surrendering...

Chloe, Juliet and Romey were not too happy when we told them we were going to dinner on New Year's Eve.  They don't like it if we leave for ANY reason...but it was New Year's after all!

We went to a nearby Italian Jazz place called Prosecco.  I had the Veal Marsala and Ben had the Shrimp FraDiavlo...and we shared Sicilian Style Calamari.  I took a few pics so you can check out our meals!  I will not recommend the veal...but Ben said his meal was good.  The music was SO LOUD that it was not good...hard to carry on a conversation...and we were not seated near the band.  I will definitely recommend our server, Spencer!  He made our evening worthwhile!  THANKS Spencer!!

The decor of the restaurant is quite nice...and actually a lot smaller than I had imagined...we had not eaten at this restaurant before.

For the obligatory New Year's Thoughts...here you go!

SURRENDER

That beautiful word is one that in and of itself will allow you to align your thoughts with your actions effortlessly. What can surrendering do for all of us?

Peace

The path to total peace is through complete surrender. Reconnect with the present moment!

Silence

Be still… your higher thoughts don’t require words.

Freedom

Set yourself free from all that you have chosen to worry about, including those limiting beliefs that set us up for failure.

Happiness

This is a state of mind that cannot be bought or found for that matter.

Feel Good

Outer circumstances come and go. It is in you to decide to take them or leave them.

When the here and the now dwell in you, you have found peace and the innate ability to cultivate a life where wishes and goals are fulfilled without resistance. And that is the beauty of Surrender.

Starting Fresh in 2017

We spent a very quiet New Year's Eve as we have been doing for the past several years.  Before I left the house, I made the girls a special dinner of ground beef, eggs and cheese...one of their favorites!

We made reservations for an early dinner at Nolan's right here in town.  They always have the place decorated nice for the holidays and it gives you a real FESTIVE vibe!  Veal French was on the menu for me and Seafood FraDiavlo for Ben.  Let me just tell you...the peanut butter pie was delicious!!

A few "selfie shenanigans" when we arrived home!!

Then, we came home and watched New Year's Rockin' Eve until everyone got too tired...and retired upstairs.  We watched about twenty minutes of Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin...then the ball dropped...and so did we! LOL

I have a few thoughts as we say goodbye to 2016 and begin anew in 2017!

Be safe out there and cherish those you love.

If you could choose ONE word for 2017...what would YOUR word be?

My word is FOCUS!

Thoughts as We Begin 2016

We spent a very quiet New Year's Eve as we have been doing for the past several years.

We watched New Year's Rockin' Eve until everyone got too tired...and retired upstairs.  We really wanted to see Jimmy Buffett play...and we did.  For about five minutes! :)

Here are a few thoughts as we leave 2015 and begin a new year in 2016! Happy New Year!!

Be safe out there and cherish those you love.

Thoughts for a Fresh Start in the New Year!!

I give you...thoughts to begin a New Year! A Fresh Start!

* Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
* Don't believe all you hear or spend all you have.
* When you say, "I love you", mean it.
* When you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
* Believe in love at first sight.
* Never laugh at anyone's dreams.
* Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
* In disagreements, fight fairly.
* Talk slow, but think quick. (I have trouble with this one!!)
* Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
* Call your Mom and Dad.
* Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
* Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
* Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
* When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
* Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
* Spend time alone - in my opinion, it is good for the soul and VERY necessary to keep my sanity!!
* Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
* Read more and watch less TV.
* Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll get to enjoy it a second time.
* Trust in God but lock your car.
* A loving atmosphere in your home is so important. Do all you can to create a tranquil and harmonious home.
* Read between the lines.
* Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
* Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other.
* Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
* Pray. There's immeasurable power in it.
