Personal Editorial on the CMA's

This is my take on the Country Music Awards televised last night. I'm beginning to think the thing is fixed. Not that I don't like some of the winners, but there really should be a law against the same person winning ALL the time. I think Kenny Chesney has won about three years in a row!

And I thought I liked Carrie Underwood. Well, I used to like her. I watched the interview they did on CMT just before the show on CMT. I think all of the awards have gone to her head. It almost seemed like she was too good for the interviewer. It appeared to me that she was not even surprised that she won...almost like she expected it! That's not good. So, she's Female Whatever of the Year AGAIN! The thing that comes to mind is...you know....Barbie, the bitch who has everything!!

Really enjoyed the duet that LeAnn Rhimes did with Reba McIntyre. Their voices just blended perfectly together!

And the performers ROCKED....I know it's the country awards, but seriously they were just fabulous!!! I was really hoping Keith Urban would win. I think he's worked really hard since he's out of rehab. At least he admitted he had a problem and actually DID something about it! He didn't win, but seemed genuine when he was congratulating the other winners. And, oh by the way, his latest CD is really good!

Now, Rodney Atkins may seem a bit strange to some people, but personally, I like the guy! He's just as down to earth as one can get...we saw him perform live a couple of months ago and I swear he was wearing the very same John Deere hat at the performance that night as he was at the awards! He's a fun dude!!

The performance by Big & Rich was....as always.....pretty explosive! Saw them live last year when they opened for Tim McGraw. They do know how to party hardy!!

I adore Martina McBride and truly believe she deserved the award more than Carrie Underwood. Seniority should mean something!! I have seen her twice and she is just the sweetest person. You could actually sit down and have a cup of coffee with her and talk about the weather. Or what colors are in for the season. Or pretty much anything normal women talk about!! She has no airs. NONE.

I must discuss Brad Paisley and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley (from According to Jim fame). They are too cute for words. Seem like really down home folk. But, I think she's lost WAY too much weight and appears to be a touch anorexic. But, I believe he deserved his award. I have no idea why they asked Kimberly to host part of the show....maybe just because she's on ABC????? Don't know.

Oh, and Kate Walsh (you know.....Addison from Grey's Anatomy! Now Private Practice)....she too was hosting...absolutely NO IDEA why, but I like her and maybe they thought she should get some airtime to promote her show??? She did a great job though....she's cute and funny!!

Taylor Swift did a superb job performing...she's ONLY 17 years old...hasn't even graduated from high school yet!!! And she was SO excited to win the Horizon Award for new artists....it was heart-warming to watch!

Sugarland finally broke the Brooks and Dunn EVERY YEAR Award and I couldn't have been more pleased for them....they were really, really grateful and it showed!

I have not yet had a chance to see the movie about Ray Charles....the movie, "Ray" that Jamie Foxx played in. This man has THE most incredible voice! Can't believe he just learned to sing for that movie....he performed with Rascal Flatts and he was just GREAT!

Last, but certainly not least, is Kellie Pickler. Well, Kellie is kind of a newcomer...hasn't been on the scene too long. She is just 21 years old. Same age as my daughter. When she performed this brilliant song, it was just awesome...she was absolutely passionate about this music! I even turned and asked my husband....ummm, is she crying????? Couldn't believe she actually broke down and cried WHILE PERFORMING her song at the CMA's. I couldn't figure it out. After the awards were over, I googled her and lo and behold, the song was a TRUE story about how her mother had left her when she was a baby. I watched an entire interview she did and they also interviewed her mother, but the two of them did not speak. It's very sad, really. I wish her the best in life and hope she goes far.

Missing from this star-studded event was my personal favorite couple of country....Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They are still the very best in my book...their Soul-to-Soul tours...both of them....were the BEST concerts I have ever seen. And I have seen many through the years.

Yikes, this turned in to a very, very long post!! Too bad I don't get paid for this!! If I could just get paid per word. My husband is always telling me I talk too much...

I'm not a country music fan, but I do think Taylor Swift is adorable and very talented. She seems so sweet and down-to-earth.

I agree, I wish winners would change each year. It seemed awhile ago Tim McGraw and Faith won every award ther way. Now it's Renee Zellweger's EX who wins it all! :)

Taylor Swift is my son's girlfriend. Ok that's what he tells me all the time anyway. I don't listen to a lot of country anymore. I still love my sweety Alan Jackson and I do enjoy Brooks and Dunn. I heard Josh Turner sing "Would you go with me" and absolutely fell in love with that song. So I guess I don't mind country, but certainly not like I once did.

I listen to country music only because the rest of my family does. But when I am on my own, no country.

I watched the awards too. I was so glad to see Sugarland win. Nothing against Brooks and Dunn, but they are NOT the only show in town. ;)

I could NOT agree more about a law against the same person winning the same award year after year. I like Kenny Chesney, but he is not the only show in town.

I agree about Carrie Underwood. I was very disappointed in her reaction and speech. When one expects it, they should NOT get it.

Taylor Swift cracked me up saying this is the best part of my senior year. Too cute! My daughter adores her. Which is way better than Britney Spears. :D

Brad Paisley and his wife. They are just too cute! :D

Kellie Pickler I like her. I knew about the song, was not expecting her to cry, I was crying with her. I hate to cry.

I am a HUGE country music fan. :D My comment is long, but I was excited to read someone else watching the CMA's besides me. :D

I didn't watch it, and I am glad, because I saved a bunch of time by reading it here. You know, some people do get paid to do reviews like this. I think that some of the awards programs are fixed, and it is sad. I think it is sad when people get famous and it goes to their head; it is refreshing to see people who seem so down to earth. And I agree with you about the hat, it is similar to my daughters with the rim fraying after wearing it constantly for almost 2 years.

So glad you blogged the CMA's! I agree with you on most, and disagree on a couple...
Carrie Underwood-gotta go, yes, fame has gone to her head
Kelly Pickler-wow, you could tell she was singin' from the heart
Brad Paisley-Love him, I think he's a mini, modern, George Strait
George Strait-Love him, I wanted him to be entertainer of the year
Kenny Chesney-Love him, but he looked like he had a job interview to go to, I like him in jeans and a t-shirt.
I wasn't to jazzed w/ the Reba duet, but I love her...I wish she'd just sing Fancy.
While Martina McB. is extremely talented, what the heck was she wearin'? It seemed like there should be a piano keyboard on her tie...
Sorry this is so long, I'll end with a yeah Sugar Land!!!
