Day Trip ~ Rochester Public Market!!

We were up early today! Off to start our day at our very first visit to the Rochester Farmer's Market! There's a little bit of something for everyone at this event.

Did you know that fresh tomatoes, fresh lettuce, and home-baked goods can improve your health, your community and the environment, all at the same time? Buying local food is a simple way to do all three. Local food tastes so much better than produce trucked all the way across the country. It puts more money back into our economy and Lord knows we sure need that!

As a child, I have many good memories of visiting the Farmer's Market in downtown Cleveland.
To read about the many Farmer's Markets around, please check out this link!! There may be one near you!!

I leave you with some photos of our adventure!!

What a great place! I love visiting farmers markets. You got some awesome shots here. We're very lucky in Massachusetts to have a wealth of fresh produce available in season. And our season is getting started with asparagus coming available. YaY! ~Jeanne

Lovely photos... I would go there
in a nanosecond.. if not to shop
then to walk about and shoot.

Our Farmers Market is definitely not
on a level with yours. I'm jealous.

How fun! It's still a bit early for farmers' markets here and when they do start they're nothing like the ones where you are.

When I lived in Boston I went to the farmers market every single Friday (held in a wonderful spot in the city) and buy all the vegis and seafood for the week..., hauling it home with a backbag!! It just worked for only two people.

Jeanne, what a great way to spend a day! When we lived in Rochester before we built this house, we lived very near the market. I think it is far better now than it was back then. I would say you had a terrific day!!! Wonderful and wonderful tour!

You are right about buying locally! I was THRILLED this past week when I shopped at Sauder's and came out with a bushel box of Cortland apples that tasted like they were just picked from the tree!!!!! I love apples. And the best part? $14.79!!!!!

How lucky you are to have such a great Farmer's market. You pictures make me want to go out to one very soon. Ours here at the beach is very small and they no longer allow you to bring your dog. So not much fun to walk down there any more. We do have one however, about 20 minutes away in 'Little Italy'. It's huge and there are at least 100 vendors. You can buy everything fresh plus lots of arts and crafts. We've been to the big one in Seattle which was the best I've ever been to. I think it's called Pike's. It is a permanent one, which it looks like yours is. Ours are just booths set up for one day a week. Shopping once a week outside, all fresh, Heaven!
