Boating with Bichons!

Today started out a little on the stormy side...just kind of overcast and foggy and HUMID!!! ACK! I do NOT like the humidity...

Especially because I cannot breathe very well. But we decided that we'd try taking the girlz out on the boat today. They haven't been on it "together" yet!!

So we loaded up their life jackets and all my boating "stuff" and took off...putting the top on the boat...just in case we got stuck in a downpour! If you know bichons....they do NOT like the RAIN!!

So we started out very S L O W L Y...

And the panting started...

LOTS of panting...with L O N G tongues!! We decided since we were relatively close to shore and just in our bay area...with no waves and no wind...we could take their life jackets off...

Little by little...the panting stopped!! YAY!! And they seemed to be enjoying themselves!! This is a step in the right direction as we do have a problem with Chloe getting sick on the boat. LadyBug loves it so we knew that would not be a problem.

So we settled down for our little cruise around the bay...taking our time...there was not alot of boats out today. Most people were headed home as we were out in the late afternoon. So we cruised around for about an hour!

Then the panting began again...and we knew it was time to head back in.

This time they had to go to the bathroom. At least the rain held off!!

So...ended our day today...and it was a GREAT day for fun on the boat with our
BOATING BICHONS!!

Did you have fun today????

Looks like your babies did just fine on the boat! Mine always hate the lifejackets and I don't bother anymore.

HATE the humidity... we actually tried to go without AC at our current house this summer, HA! I didn't sleep well for three nights. Finally the man relented and put it back on... and finally a good night sleep.

I spent a good part of the day in a hammock up on a hill behind this old house reading yesterday... always a breeze up there, it was great.

Next time, take a popsicle with you. Let Chloe start licking the popsicle as soon as she starts panting. Motion sickness is effected by swallowing. You can trick the inner ear if you are swallowing... that is why gum works for some people. I feel for her, I know that the queasies are Icky!

Those pictures are GREAT...they just say..."Life is Good".

Dory is into the groomers for her summer shave tomorrow...she is getting hot so very easily and just loves sitting in her backyard...

sounds like loads of fun!

Jake got to go meet a new friend today, little Sam. Sam hates other dogs, hates having her butt sniffed, vants to be alone!

But - as promised - Jake was so easy-going, and turned away so quickly when she curled her lip at him, and then played and played and played.... that soon Sam was watching, and then she was standing nearby, and pretty soon they were able to play separately, together. Her person was shocked - Sam is 6, and this is the most relaxed first meeting she's ever had with another dog. Jake usually is able to eventually coax the reluctant ones to romp, but he never pushes faster than they're willing to go. Here's hoping it works! It would be nice for him to have a playmate.

They both look so happy and at home on the water that I'm surprised one of them gets boat sick. Precious girls you have! Oh, and I hate humidity too!

They look like they're having fun. I think the pups are happy no matter what they're doing as long as they are with mama.

One of my co-workers has bassetts and they take them out on their boat. Look so cute with their ears waving in the breeze. You've got a great spot there! ~Jeanne

Hello! Trying hard to connect w/ owners of multiple Bichons. We have a 3 yr old darling, and just added a pup this week. Now all we need is ADVICE! If you would be willing to chat about assimilation, housebreaking, and separation anxiety (you know, the not-so-wonderful Bichon traits), would you e-mail me? My address is: windy-poplars@juno.com. Thanks in advance! Kristin
