As most of you know, I formerly worked in Corporate Audit and research was my game! Each year at Christmas, my husband and I make idea lists for each other. I had one thing on my list that was important to me, yet, I wanted to research it first! So....here we go...
iPad Air 2 vs. iPad 4th Generation Retina (which I have had since 12/2012)
*Anti-Reflective Display // Anti Glare (reduces glare by almost 60%)
*Fingerprint Sensor // Touch ID Security
*Chip Difference: The iPad Air2 is A8X, 64 Bit, Tri-Core, 1.5Ghz. and 2 GB Ram vs. the iPad 4th Gen. Retina which had A6x, 32 Bit, Dual Core, 1.4 Ghz.and 1 GB Ram.
*Apple SIM added to the Air2...but that really only matters on 3G enabled iPads.
The battery life is better due to power-efficient processing which allows about 10 hours of web surfing.
If your iPad is from 2012 or earlier, even the 1st iPad Air is a big step UP!!
The Air2 is a significant upgrade!! First off, it is almost 20% lighter than the first Air. You can easily hold it in just one hand...even in landscape mode (which is increasingly important to me due to my RA issues). Apple has also installed Touch Rejection allowing you to hold the side of the tablet without accidentally registering touches.
Apple's Touch ID is the BEST in the business. It is simple and absolutely THE easiest way to secure your device. It is now easier to log into websites and apps on your iPad than it is on your laptop.
You WILL notice a difference in the screen resolution due to higher contrast and much more vivid colors. The Air 2's anti-reflective coating reduces glare by almost 60%. The sun beating directly on the screen and you can still easily read text and check out your photos.
In today's modern world, performance isn't usually an issue but the Air2 is INSANELY fast!!
The Air2 has the best rear camera of any of the previous iPads and shoots in 8MP. Even in the face of tough competition. Apple still wins in my book. Best. Tablet. Period.
Guess what is on my list this year????
Oh...and I should mention...this generation comes in GOLD!
