Easter Eggs! The Throwback...

Almost Easter Egg Time!

I am throwing it back today to one of LadyBug's first Easters with us!  She discovered what hard boiled eggs were all about!

There was NO way I was going to keep her away from those eggs...this dog could LIVE on eggs!!  As soon as she realized that there was an actual egg inside those pretty colored things...she just helped herself!  She would lick the outside of the egg first...which of course made her face turn blue!

There is no shortage of laughter in this house with these two...let me tell you!!

I still miss my baby girl...every day!

We DO have a LOT of antics around here with three though!

And YES I did color eggs last night...

Happy Thursday!

Academy Awards and Catch Up!

As most of you know, I am a HUGE movie fan and go at least once a week to our local theatre.  I look forward to the Academy Awards each year...not for the movies, per se, but for the FASHION.  My girls will be joining me front and center on Sunday to watch the Red Carpet festivities.  Romey will probably go out for a beer with Ben :)

The awards themselves have gotten a little bit TOO political for my taste as I keep my personal views on politics to myself and do not appreciate the actors getting up on stage and throwing all of their opinions at me...regardless of whether anyone cares or not.

In other news, I have just been swamped here with lots of "stuff" going on.  Trying to get my act together to get packed for the trip south.  I have an entire room full of things I took out of the RV when we sold it.  Now I have to decide where to put it all.  Much of it was going to be moved to the cottage, but I don't have a ton of extra storage room up there.  It is only about 1000 square feet.  So, some of it may have to be sold.  Just having to sort through it all takes time.

My oral surgery went well...I truly appreciate the surgeon who I go to.  Now, big decisions have to be made on next steps.  My regular dentist retired so I have to figure out who I will go to now.  I am always a little bit nervous starting out with someone new.  I am anxious about it because the other two bridges in my mouth were all put in during the same timeframe...about 34 years ago.  I am thinking that they may all be in need of replacing.  That can mean some serious money.

Chloe seems to be aging by the day.  There are just little changes we are noticing.  She cannot hear or see much anymore and she just seems to be kind of uncomfortable.  I think she is suffering from arthritis...much like our big guy did as he aged.  I am very worried about how she will do on our road trip.  The vet has given her a prescription but it does not seem to have much effect on her.  We are probably going to have to stop about every two hours.

That's it for now folks.  My apologies for not being around much.  I will certainly try to get back in to the groove again!

Dogs Don't Necessarily Love Independence Day As Much As We Do!

We would like to give you guys a HEADS UP PSA!!

The Fourth of July is one of the most stressful and potentially dangerous times of the year for pets. While you and your family, friends, and neighbors are celebrating the holiday with fireworks, pets are finding these festive activities anything BUT celebratory.

Many pet parents assume that if their pet is not afraid of thunder or other loud noises, they will not be bothered by fireworks. This is not necessarily true. Even pets who normally are not bothered by thunder and other loud noises are often frightened and panicked by the cumulative effects of the fireworks, the excited voices outside, and being left alone inside the house.

If pets are left outside and unattended, the noise and raucous often drives them to run away. In fact, the July 4th holiday is a very busy time for animal shelters across the U.S. They report taking in a higher number dogs that run off during firework festivities. In addition, many police stations log higher volumes of stray dog calls and barking complaints on July 4th compared to any other day of the year.

By planning ahead and taking some common sense precautions, you can help ensure your pet is happy and safe this Fourth of July.

Do not take your pet to fireworks displays.

Do not leave your pet alone in the car. With only hot air to breathe inside a car, your pet can suffer serious health effects even death in a few short minutes. Partially opened windows do not provide sufficient air, but they do provide an opportunity for your pet to be stolen. See our previous post: Leaving Pets In Parked Car Can Be A Deadly Mistake. However, if your pet is most comfortable in the car, some pet parents find that driving around with their pet in the car helps to calm their pet.

Keep your pets in your home in a comfortable and quiet area with the shades drawn. If your pet is crate trained, then their crate is a great choice. Some animals can become destructive when frightened, so be sure that you've removed any items that your pet could destroy or that would be harmful to your pet if chewed. Leave a television or radio playing at normal volume to keep your pet company while you're attending Fourth of July picnics, parades, and other celebrations.

If you know that your pet is seriously distressed by loud noises like thunder, consult with your veterinarian before July 4th for ways to help alleviate the fear and anxiety he or she will experience during fireworks displays.

If your pet seeks comfort in a bath tub, under a bed or other small space...let them. Do not try to lure them out. If the space is safe and it makes them feel more secure, let them be.

Never leave pets outside unattended, even in a fenced yard or on a chain. In their fear, pets who normally wouldn't leave the yard may escape and become lost, or become entangled in their chain, risking injury or death.

Make sure your pets are wearing identification tags so that if they do become lost, they can be returned promptly. Animals found running at-large should be taken to the local animal shelter, where they will have the best chance of being reunited with their owners.

Here's to you and your pet having a happy and safe Independence Day!

Finally ... South Carolina!

We finally made it to South Carolina!  Specifically, Ocean Lakes, in Myrtle Beach.  This is our Happy Place!  The girls loved it as much as we did as they can go with us anywhere...even on the beach!  We go early enough in the season that they are allowed on the beach.  I believe from May through October...they change the rules and do not allow them to go on the beach.

Most of the pictures are just random pics of the park...this place is HUGE!  That is why a golf cart is needed!!  Unfortunately, my biking days are over and I do need a way to get around.  Many of the resorts we stay at allow my scooter.  Ocean Lakes does not...because it is a gas scooter.  If it was an electric scooter, then they would.  Of course, the girls prefer we have a golf cart anyway so that they can come along for the ride!  They just LOVE golf cart riding with the wind in their hair!

Admittedly, I took a little time out to shop at the Hammock Shops in Murrells Inlet...another one of my favorite places!

Chloe much prefers lounging on her chair...rather than going to the beach.  LadyBug, on the other hand, truly LOVED the beach.

Miss Chloe is always fascinated with the ducks and geese and swans....and turtles!  So much for her to see!  She would spend all day just watching them!

And...Chloe is ALWAYS the first one to go to bed at night!  She has a little internal clock...

Travel Tuesday: The Easter Edition

OK....moving right along!  For today's post, we are sharing our Easter on the Road pics!

We spent Easter in an RV Park in Sneads Ferry, NC because it was the closest one to my sister's house...that was actually decent!  In fact it really was a beautiful park.  My brother drove down from CT and my sister and brother in law and B and I all met at a quaint little restaurant called the Village Cafe.

What an awesome chef!  It was a buffet with ALL the fixins and they were taking orders for made to order omelets...that were superb!

**I debated and debated whether to post some of these pics, but I decided in LadyBug's memory that I would share them here.**

I hope you enjoyed visiting Sneads Ferry, NC with us and celebrating Easter.

Yes, OF COURSE, we get Easter Baskets!!!

Rest in Peace my Little LadyBug

5.17.2017

At this very moment, I am too fragile to say anything really.
LadyBug was so very special to me and we had a very real connection.

We did not know she had cancer.

She had such a wonderful time on our trip and we treasure each and every moment.

She had a very large malignant mass in her body.  True to her character, she never let on that she was in pain or not feeling well.

Chloe is truly grieving.

LadyBug will live on in our hearts...our little lovebug.  Forever.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing,
they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again -
and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting
pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.

Life is Good: The LadyBug Edition

This photo was taken shortly after we had adopted/rescued LadyBug!  She really was having the time of her life and so...the title works here...Life is Good!!  She was so scared when she first came to live with us...but once she settled in with Chloe and Zippo...she just became little Miss Personality!!  Just look at that smile!
