BlogPaws WW: Stressed Out Chloe Girl!

I felt so bad for Miss Chloe this morning as she was SOOOOO stressed out!!  Going to the vet or the groomer is a very, very stressful activity for her.  The reason for the visit to the vet today was her vaccinations.  Good thing we only need those every three years!  I also had the vet take a look at the growth in her ear but she absolutely believes that it is not something to worry about.  Bichons are prone to fatty cysts and when the vet drained it, clear liquid came out.  To have the growth removed would be a very traumatic experience as she would have to go under general anasthesia.  I do not like to put my dog through that if I don't have to.  Especially because of her age...she will be 11 in January.  So, for now, we are taking a wait and see attitude.

Chloe does not like to leave her home turf.  If she could stay at home or in the RV all the time...she would be fine with that.  Even if we try to go for a walk outside of our yard, all she wants to do is turn around and go back home.

I guess it is a good thing we have a fair amount of land!

The funny thing is that Chloe is totally different when we are on an RV trip...she doesn't mind walking over to the lake to check out the ducks...or exploring different parks we might be in.  She's like a different dog!

LadyBug is my Rescue and she is much more social than Chloe is!

We so understand with Miss Chloe and Ancient Pip was covered in fatty lumps but after we had the first one checked out (big con) we left the rest well alone. We hope she is more settled today. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Best wishes Molly

Oh gosh, I feel your pain. You might have seen the info we posted on WagsAhoy.com about my visit to the vet last week. Also had to get a couple of vaccines... not my favorite thing in the world, but it is good to know you are in good health! Glad to hear the ear growth was not a big deal! Happy Wednesday! *wags* - Gilligan

Hi Y'all!

Oh poor Chloe. Nobody, pawed or footed likes stressful situations. Maybe she could go in the RV and the vet or groomer could come out to their parking lot to take care of her. I know humans winterize the water systems in boats and RVs, but can you still drive them? My Human puts stabilizer in the gas on the boat, but he doesn't drain the the gas in the spring.

Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog

Yes, Jeanne, it was the same whenever I had to take my two cats into the vet, it would stress them out so much that it took days for them to calm down. At one time, I had a vet who would actually make house calls whenever my cats got sick or needed their yearly shots. And it was so much better because they were in their own surroundings and felt much calmer.

X to you and the girlz!

Poor Chloe! We're glad that's over for another 3 years. Good thing Santa comes to your house so you don't have to go to him! :)

Poor Chloe. Hope she's feeling happier now. I don't blame you for waiting on the ear. In my opinion surgery should be a very last resort

We are so glad the ear problem is no worries. Mom once had two cockapoos and as they aged they had lots and lots of those sebaceous cysts. No worries about them but they aren't pretty. Wish that was all Phantom had going on in his ear.

Oh I'm sorry she was so stressed. You're a wise lady to keep her from having a needless operation. I was surprised to learn that Chloe is a senior dog - she looks like a puppy to me. (I hear she has a gala party next week over at Dory's to look forward to, that should cheer her up!).

Excellent idea Hawk! Unfortunately, we cannot drive ours in the winter because it is completely covered up and underneath tons of tarps that are tied down so we can't take it anywhere until the spring when it warms up enough. It would be a great idea though!

Thanks so much! She really flips out...but sometimes I have no choice but to take her! We were very glad to hear that we don't need to worry right now...

Thanks so much Molly! What happened with Pip and the first lump?? The vet did not drain anything this time, and the last time, it was quite a bit smaller...so it wasn't that big of a deal...but at least she told us we don't have to worry now and that made us feel a LOT better!
