Simple Turkey & Rice Canine Cuisine
7 cups water
2 cups long grain brown rice
1 pound ground turkey
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 cup diced raw carrots
1 cup chopped fresh broccoli
1/2 cup chopped apple (NO SEEDS)
Put the water, ground turkey, rice and rosemary into a large dutch oven. Stir in the ground turkey until it is broken up and evenly distributed throughout the mixture. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 45 minutes. All water should have been absorbed by the rice. If it isn't ... stir, cover, and wait a little bit longer!
Put the diced carrots and broccoli in the microwave to soften them. It takes about 30 seconds. Microwave each vegetable separately. After rice is done, stir in carrots, broccoli and raw apple into rice. Remove mixture from heat. The heat of the cooked rice will give the vegetables and apple their final cooking.
Cool or refrigerate before serving.
Yield about 13 cups.
Keeps in fridge for 3 days and freezer up to 3 months
