Just wanted to stop in and give you guys a quick update on Chloe's condition.
It appears that the Doxycycline the vet prescribed for the Lyme Disease is working as Chloe has resumed her usual walking and is no longer dropping or dragging her feet.
That is a good thing.
However; she has picked up a terrible cough that makes her sound like some sort of strange seal or maybe an elephant.
After discussing the situation with multiple vet techs and veterinarians on the phone for the past couple of days...we have decided to add an additional antibiotic and see if amoxycillin will help to clear the cough up. She has no other symptoms...she is eating ok and everything. She is tired though. Probably because the coughing is keeping us all awake.
So, off to pick up another prescription tomorrow and hopefully that will help Miss Chloe feel better. I can tell she's just not herself.
All good thoughts, vibes, prayers accepted!!

Wonderful news, I'm so glad that the doxy is working for Chloe! I hope the other antibiotic works for the cough so she doesn't have to give up smoking all those cigars!! :-)!!!!!
Sending lots of good vibes and continued prayers for your sweet girl!! And I really love the picture of her!!!
I hope you're all able to get your rest this weekend!
our paws and fingers are crossed that the new meds help Chole... potp and big hug to you
Glad the medicine is helping her. Prayers that the new one will help with the cough. Get better soon Chloe
Beautiful photo of Chloe! Sending POTP and buckets of hugs - hope you get a good night's sleep tonight :)
Paws crossed tight for Chloe! My husband had Lyme a few years ago. He was sick for several weeks and we just thought it was the flu. Finally, they realized what it was and he went on a high dose of antibiotics. Hoping Miss Chloe feels better soon!
POTP to good old Chloe!
We're glad to hear Chloe is feeling better and hope she can get over her cough too.
Sending POTP that Chloe's cough clears up soo and the meds keep doing their job with the Lyme's!
We hope the extra antibiotic will do the trick for you, Chloe. Paws are crossed!
We are glad there is some improvement. Continuing our POTP.
Sending prayers up for your sweet Chloe! I don't like the sound of a cough, so praying the new med helps her get rid of it. Sending love to you all.

Thanks very much...unfortunately, she has taken a turn for the worse and sounds just awful. We went back to the vet today and she decided to leave her on the doxycycline and give her a cough tablet. Here I am at 4:30am up with her again...she is still coughing a LOT. I feel so bad for her...helpless really. I appreciate your kind words!
Hi Noreen, Thank you so much! We are in need of prayers right now...Chloe was back at the vet today and the cough has gotten worse...not better. We did not add another antibiotic right now but she gave me some cough tablets to try. They are not working...so far. Thank you for your prayers...Love to you and Hunter. xo
Thanks so much! Yes, there is improvement in her lameness, but the cough has taken a turn for the worse. Back to the vet we went today for a recheck. She gave me some cough tablets that are not helping at all...not sure where to turn right now.
Thank you! Actually, the vet requested we return for a recheck today and did not add the extra antibiotic at this time. She gave me a cough tablet, which is clearly not working. Chloe and I are up coughing up a storm here at 4:30. I think I may try something homeopathic at this point. Not sure what else to do. Thanks for the POTP...we need it!!
Thanks guys! The lameness is definitely better, but the cough has gotten much worse. We were back at the vet's office this afternoon, but her cough has gotten much worse. No added antibiotic at this point. She gave me a cough medicine in tablet form to try. It did nothing at all. I feel so bad for poor Chloe...and there is really nothing I can do. I have been sitting with her in the bathroom with the shower turned on full blast hot for 30 minutes a couple of times a day...and that seems to help a little bit. Thanks for the POTP!
Thanks so much Cindy...I am very worried at this point. The Lyme lameness is under control presumably because of the doxycycline, but her cough has gotten so much worse. It is just awful. Back to the vet we went today and they did not give us another antibiotic...just a cough tablet. It did not work at all. I think I may try something homeopathic at this point. Thanks for your kind words!!
Thank you so much! I understand that Lyme is much worse for humans than it is for dogs...I have never known a dog to have it so this is a new experience for us. Her lameness is much improved, but her cough is SO much worse that we went back to the vet today. They gave her cough tablets and they did not work at all. So here I am researching on the internet trying to figure out if there is anything else I can do! Maybe we will try something homeopathic. I just feel terrible for her...I am glad your husband feels much better now! The strong antibiotic, Doxycycline, will continue for Chloe...hopefully tomorrow we will see improvement.
Thanks Amy! We are in dire need of POTP AND buckets of hugs so we sincerely appreciate your sending them! No sleep for us tonight either...we went back to the vet today, and they are thinking it might be a type of Bronchitis. We did not put her on amoxicillin...just kept her on the doxycycline for now. The cough tablets that were given to us did not work at all and we got less sleep tonight than last night. This is not easy...I feel so bad for her! Thanks again...
Thank you Ann! Today is a new day and the cough has worsened. We really did not sleep at all. We went back to the vet today for a recheck and she gave us some cough medicine. Which did nothing. I sure hope that she feels better tomorrow...this has been really rough. It's so hard when they are sick and we really cannot help them.
Thanks very much Easy. We need all the POTP we can get right now. Chloe is not improving and is actually getting worse. The vet requested that we return today for a recheck...so we did, but they really did not find anything. They believe it is some type of bronchitis. Gave us some cough tablets but they did not work at all. So....another sleepless night for us. We really appreciate your kind words and hugs. Hoping tomorrow will be a better day.
Thanks so much Kim! Yes, the doxy worked on her lameness, but the cough continues to worsen. I have been in constant contact with the vet and she requested we return today...which we did. She said that her lungs sounded good, but she was having trouble hearing her heart because Miss Chloe was a total basketcase and was panting like a freak! She gave us some cough tablets but they did nothing. It has been a miserable night and I am really hoping tomorrow will be a better day. I appreciate your kind words!
poor baby, hoping the additional meds work!! Love the photo too
