A Dickens Christmas Adventure in Skaneateles, NY

Continuing in our quest to enhance our Christmas adventures this season, we took a day trip to Skaneateles, NY which is not far from us.

What a cute little town!  It would have been a lot more fun if the temperature was warmer.  It was FRIGID with a very cold wind!  We enjoyed ourselves, but we decided the summer would be a better time to visit.  It would have been nice to spend a little more time in the shops.  Some of the photos you see were taken in a little store called F. Oliver's.  Kind of funny because we actually have an F. Oliver's in our own town and we have never been in it!  Their olive oil is the BEST and I highly recommend it.  This is not a sponsored post, I just really love their oils.

Tradition Continued: Brook House

 

We have continued on our journey photographing different trees to showcase the holiday season!

Tree Tradition: The Office Building Edition

We decided to venture into downtown Rochester to the Monroe County Office Building to take a few pictures of the Christmas tree in the atrium.

Here is a bit of information about this building:

The Rochester City Hall Atrium is a true architectural masterpiece. Each year

thousands of visitors come to tour Rochester City Hall and are left inspired by its architecture. The three-story high hall is surrounded by walls of symmetrical arches and ornate Tennesee marble columns, decorated with hand carved capitals, that support each arch.  Cast iron "Liberty" goddesses wearing eagle talon necklaces stand watch between the arches on the lower floor of the Atrium. The figures symbolize America. On the second level, lions cast in plaster take the place of the "Liberty" goddesses. The third floor sports a collection of plaster Neptune heads that oversee the entire Atrium. 

 

On sunny days, streaks of bright sunlight cast into the Atrium through the glass ceiling. An Atrium fountain was designed to repeat the arch theme that if found throughout the building.

The Tradition Continues: Nolan's in Canandaigua

We had planned on meeting our friends for dinner on Saturday night, so we had to grab some pictures for our project to add to our collection!

We went to Nolan's in Canandaigua...just about five minutes from our house.  We enjoy it and they have great food!  The people are always very friendly and the decorations are beautiful.  I only took a couple of quick pictures.

I am in the process of playing with different night photo apps and trying to decide which one I like the best.  There is a LOT of research involved, but I think I have it narrowed down to two.

Sepia Saturday: New Traditions Continue!

The "new" tradition conditions!  This photo is taken at one of the entrances to the mall...they have so many wonderful displays...it is difficult to pick just one to photograph...so I didn't!!  I took several different shots that you will see over the coming days!

This is just a random LadyBug photo...she is always, ALWAYS, WATCHING me!!

 

As mentioned earlier, we are trying to do some things differently than we have in the past so this year Ben went out and got some garland and lights to "fancy up" the mantel!  It looks terrific...and I am sure you will love it when you see it in living color...but the Sepia Shot gives you an idea!! 

Decking the halls really SHOULD be in full swing, and we better get going on it...hopefully this weekend we will get most of it done!

And then there are cards!  We have received quite a few...I should clarify that by saying...the GIRLS have received quite a few!!  I need to get mine addressed and mailed!!

Tree Tradition: The Mall Edition

 

We are continuing our quest!  We found some more trees...this time at our local mall.

I couldn't resist taking a few pictures of some of the pretty windows...I could look at Christmas decorations all day long!!

Guiding Eyes for the Blind Introduction!

It was such a pleasure to meet the dogs from Guiding Eyes for the Blind last night!  We were out scoping out trees for our photo adventures when we spotted a bunch of dogs wearing their "Guiding Eyes Puppy Training" Vests.

A friend of mine used to raise puppies for them, so I was interested to meet some of the dogs.  Since we were at the mall, I suspect they were there doing the same thing we were!  There was a beautiful tree and they were taking turns putting the dogs in the sleigh.

My new friend is named Gotham and he is ten months old.  I would love to help train these beautiful pups, but I would never want to give them up as I would become WAY too attached!!

So...without further adieu...here is Gotham and me enjoying the Christmas season!

My grandmother was blind so I am particularly interested in these dogs.  What a wonderful gift the puppy raisers give to the recipients of these dogs!!
