LadyBug!
Chloe Girl!!
Let's talk about Dog Food...for a change. Seriously, I have to purchase some dry kibble to take along on our road trip. I've been going back and forth on which one to get this time. SO many have been recalled and it sure is alarming!!
The Orijen is good and the girlz are enjoying it, but it causes a bit of a "gas" issue with one of them. I actually think she is uncomfortable. The other one they did good on recently was Canidae All Life Stages...but that is on the recall list.
I have been asked to do a review of Nutro...and I'm just not going there right now.
Solid Gold Wee Bit was another favorite, and they have recently been discussed, but that particular kind of Solid Gold was not recalled.
I am leaning toward Fromm at this point. At least I can pick up a bag for them to try. Fortunately, that one has NEVER been recalled.
Are you having a dilemma over which type of Kibble to purchase for your furbabies??
My friend Kae was over and we had such a wonderful visit today....Check out a couple of the beautiful pictures she took of my girlz!!

Let's Talk about Our Friend Mr. Chewy!
Today, we are going to talk about our friend Mr. Chewy!! Mr. Chewy was kind enough to send us a bag of Orijen Senior Dog Food to try. I could NOT get the bag open fast enough!! Secretly, I think that when the girlz see a package with Mr. Chewy's picture on it, they just KNOW it is for them!!
The number ONE reason I am going to talk about Orijen today is because I fully and whole-heartedly agree that this is a VERY good quality food. There has NEVER been a recall on this particular food!! It is rated on the Dog Food Advisor site as being FIVE Stars! Five Stars peeps...that is the BEST!!! The Orijen Senior is biologically appropriate for senior dogs of all breeds. If you are interested in reading more about this, please read this. Another advantage in my mind is that dog foods are not regulated by the FDA...but Orijen is regulated by the Canadian equivalent of the FDA!! Directly quoting from their own website: "Orijen's chicken, fish and turkey meals are produced exclusively from animals that are certified as fit for human consumption by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)."
Mr. Chewy offers FREE SHIPPING on orders over $49 and it is SUPER FAST!!! We received our order in just two days!!
Quoting directly from Orijen: "Formulated to match your dog's natural diet, Orijen Senior is made with high inclusions of free-run chicken, turkey, shole eggs and wild-caught fish. Sustainably farmed or fished within their region in Canada, these world-class ingredients are delivered FRESH each day, so they are preservative-free and bursting with protein and fats to nourish your senior dog completely.
Loaded with the protein-packed animal ingredients (75%) that Mother Nature evolved all dogs to eat, Orijen is also infused with marine-source DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids from wild-caught, never-frozen fish which support peak skin and coat conditioning -- your senior dog's outer symbol of health and vitality.
In place of the high-glycemic grains found in conventional dog foods, Orijen features regional fruits and greens that supply natural antioxidants, while selected botanicals including dandelion root and peppermint leaf mirror your dog's natural instinct to forage for grasses and weeds.
Made exclusively in their award-winning factory in Alberta, Canada, Orijen Senior is a naturally delicious way to keep your senior dog happy, healthy, and strong. The link above will take you to a Dog Food Advisor site.
The ingredients are: boneless chicken, chicken meal, boneless salmon, turkey meal, russet potato, herring meal, sweet potato, peas, pea fiber, boneless turkey, whole eggs, chicken liver, boneless lake whitefish, boneless walleye, sun-cured alfalfa, chicken fat, dried organic kelp, pumpkin, chicory root, carrots, spinach, turnip greens, apples, cranberries, blueberries, licorice root, angelica root, fenugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppermint leaf, chamomile, dandelion, summer savory, rosemary, Vitamin A supplement, Vitamin D3 supplement, Vitamin E supplement, niacin, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, calcium, panthothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folid acid, biotin, Vitamin B12 supplement, zinc proteinate, iron proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, sodium selenite, dried Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried Enterococcus faecium fermentation product.
Much has been said about feeding TOO much protein but the girlz only get about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per DAY...with a little cooked chicken or hamburger mixed in with their coconut oil! They are THRILLED with their new food and so am I!!
Check it out at Mr. Chewy!! You will love it too!!

Opinions Please!
I'm sure most of you remember the post I did on Canidae back in February...you can read it here.
Well, I opened my mail tonight to find that Diamond has recalled many of their pet foods...you can read about them here. Don't know why, but my eyes happened to catch one of the comments below the article stating that CANIDAE was being recalled. WHAT????? So, I went immediately to their website to read this!! Are you kidding me???
I am so angry about this I could just scream. My husband and I constantly have this battle about feeding the dogs good quality kibble. My take is I can cook my own chicken or beef, or tuna or whatever...and give them quality kibble that will give them the necessary vitamins and nutrients that they need. When he sees this recall, I think he is going to flip out too!!
Honestly, what concerns me especially this time is that the time that Canidae provided me with the voucher for the food to write the review and the timeframe of the "possibly" contaminated food is the same!! Fortunately the girlz seem ok and I am now feeding them another brand, but this just really upsets me.
Don't you get crazy with all these recalls?? My husband says we should just start giving them OUR food.
What do you think????
