The Treacherous Trip to the Store

I admit...when I have a coupon for Michael's or JoAnn's (or A.C. Moore or Hobby Lobby!!) I hate to waste it.

So, I casually mention to Ben that I have to run to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things for dinner. Had I looked outside I might have reconsidered. I mean...I knew that it was snowing.

I did NOT know that it was really TREACHEROUS outside!!!

It was BAD. Really Bad.

I have never been a huge fan of driving in the snow. When I had to go to work every day and I worked 40 miles from home...well...I sure got used to it. But, I never liked it.

When I was in an accident the winter before last, it pretty much ended my driving in the winter. I have to admit...I'm a little scared.

One might actually say...TERRIFIED. Especially on days like today.

So, Ben decided that he would drive me to the grocery store...and I suggested we make a "quick" stop at JoAnn's so I could run in and use my coupon!! Great productive little shopping trip....they had a bunch of goodies on sale!

I didn't like the roads on the way there...but it calmed down a bit by the time we were headed home.

Tonight...we have spent several hours watching people getting pulled out of the ditches near our house. Even the NYS Thruway was closed to Tractor Trailer traffic...a very good idea when it is so bad out.

We lost count as to how many cars were off the road. We live out in the wide open country...so with the heavy snow and the fact that it was so windy....we have some MAJOR drifts out there!!!

Looking forward to staying IN tomorrow!!

Jeanne, when Mark said he wanted to go out yesterday afternoon, he asked me to go. I really needed to shovel and so I stayed home and Ben went with him. They said the roads were much better in Canandaigua than down here! Yikes! Mark decided to come up and over to our house from route 21...as he came down the hill toward our house, he said he was scared...the truck was sliding all over the place! He had charted a plan of escape, but it was nerve-wracking. Thankfully, they made it home safely! Our road was a total mess the entre day and the town used a one ton pickup to plow several times....no idea what that was about!!!!!

I feel your pain! I used to live in Ohio and the snow and ice were horrible. Stay in, stay safe.

Huh. We got the cold temps and WIND again, but not the snow. Your roads look terrible, you NUT!!... but I do love Joannes and especially Michaels. Have never seen a Hobby Lobby, now I have to see if we have them in CT.

When the roads are bad, the Momster stays put. One time many years ago she made the trek from Western MA to Cornell via the I-90 during a snowstorm. She was so scared, trucks and cars off the road everywhere. A very foolish trip, she says now.

We love our snow but we want people to be safe too.

Hope today is a better day.

It's dumping here right now. DUMPING! The doggies are happy, the husband is debating when he's going to take his 'first strike' on the driveway (he's going to have to clear it at least twice...). We're venturing no farther than the backyard today! :-)
