The Calm After The Storm

The Hollyhocks are blooming!  We had received some seeds from a neighbor and we just tossed them in to the ground...not really thinking that they would do anything.  We have tried them before.  They bloomed for one season and then never again.  So...LOOK!  Our very first bloom...the second pic shows how freakin' tall this plant is getting!  We were so excited because it grew so fast!  On the plus side, there are a LOT of blooms on the plant now!!

The Fourth of July Weekend always bring with it a certain amount of chaos.  Noise, Screaming, Kids, Fireworks, Firecrackers...and BARKING dogs!!

Today...we did a LOT of THIS...relaxing!!  Those nice comfy lounge chairs that we bought for US...look who is using them...and quite happily I might add!!

LadyBug is slowly coming around, but she is still resting more than she did before she became ill.  Her face is still not quite back to normal.  The whole shape of her face has changed...thinned out so to speak.  But, she is eating and she is wagging that HAPPY TAIL again!  So happy about that!!

We had several discussions this afternoon about changes that have taken place in this little cottage neighborhood of ours over the years.  We have been here about 30 years and like everything else...the place has changed.  The people have changed.  Usually it is just the younger generations taking over for the older generations.  Two notable changes have occurred for us this year.  My husband's fraternity brother and his wife owned a cottage just a hop, skip, and a jump from ours.  They sold it a couple of weeks ago.  We will miss them as we used to go to dinner with them and spent many, MANY hours just sitting around discussing life in general.

One of our closest neighbors who had their place for more than 30 years finally sold their place in the fall.  It has been SO strange not having them here this summer.  They were the PARTY house....the fun, lively, laughing kind of neighbors that everybody wants to have.  But, they were in their 80's and just found the upkeep of the place to hard to handle.  The kids live out of state and were not able to take it over.  This is a very hard transition for all of us.

Sometimes...change is just HARD.  Enough of my nostalgic memories.  Hope y'all had a great holiday weekend!!

The flowers are beautiful. We don't like changes sometimes. Our neighborhood is getting more and more crowded, yuk

Jeanne, those Hollyhocks are BEAUTIFUL!

Yes, it was the same in Philly. And because of the history and having Independence Hall here, the city is very crowded. Also, we have a huge concert out by the art museum area every year on the 4th of July, so the city gets very busy and noisy.

So glad to hear that Lady Bug is coming around.

(((((((((((( Lady Bug )))))))))))

And I so know what you mean about the challenge of change and going through the transitions because sometimes they seem to happen all at one time, don't they?

Have a super Monday and week, my friend!

X to you and the girlz!

Pretty flowers! We think those chairs are just for you girls! We're glad LadyBug is feeling better and we know she's just showing her kitty side by napping more! :) Change happens but it could lead to new friends and more fun times! Or at least more kitties visiting your yard!

Your hollyhocks are so pretty! We have ***finally***!!!!! raised the grade between the house and garage and I am beginning to plant things along the side of the house. It's about time!! High on the list of flowers I want are hollyhocks! I always loved them in our backyard as a little girl! I am so glad LadyBug is feeling better. Poor little girl has been through a terrible ordeal and I am sure she appreciates the rest she gets! You are such a good mom and I knew she would be okay!!!
As far as changes....wow. That is hard as it almost seems when folks leave, they take along a piece of your heart! But, perhaps new friends will be good friends, too. The house across the road from us is on its third family since it was built. Even though the new neighbors are younger, they are so nice and we have visited with them a couple of times. The very best part of all is that the husband owns several sporting goods stores AND is a fan of the Buffalo Sabres!!! (He actually knows some of the people in the organization!)

Hi Y'all!

So glad Ladybug has the "wags" back!

Sorry about your neighbors moving. It's always worrisome when good neighbors move.

Y'all come back now,
