Merrick's Natural Beef Jerky Strips

You all know how much we love our friend Chewy!!  We got a surprise in the mail!!!  Chewy sent us a package of Merrick Natural Beef Jerky Strips.  Nothing like a package in the mail from Chewy to brighten our day!!

These Merrick Jerky Strips are MADE in the U.S.!!  They are a 100% natural high protein treat!!  Chloe and LadyBug went absolutely crazy when I opened the package!  Just the aroma of these fabulous treats had them doing cartwheels!! (I knew I should have taken a video!!)

These All American treats contain no artificial flavors or fillers and they are rawhide-free!  These treats are even terrific for those dogs who may be on a special diet as they contain NO Corn, NO Wheat, and NO Soy.  They are also relatively soft so that older dogs who may not have the chewing ability of younger dogs have no problem with these treats!!

We were celebrating Mama's birthday and guess what??  

She shared a teeny little piece of the cake with us!

We are also celebrating the fact that the MRI test came out clear!

Yay!

So...now we have to move on to some more tests...but it is good that test was normal!

About Halloween!!  And FUN FOOD!!

Upside down Keebler fudge stripe cookies, orange frosting and a Hershey's kiss = Witch Hat cookies for Halloween.

Seriously....you have to admit...it doesn't get much easier than this!  Great idea for a quick holiday treat to have on hand!!

I have already told the girlz they are not allowed to eat them...but I promised I'd have sufficient treats for them!!

Tasty Tuesday

I give the girlz these chicken jerky treats!!

The jerky is tough and chewy, so it keeps them out of trouble for a little while!

Ingredients
2 to 4 chicken breasts

Directions
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove any excess fat from the chicken. Turn the chicken breast on its side and use a paring knife to slice the chicken breast into 1/8 inch thick strips.

Set the strips on a baking sheet. Bake for 2 hours.

Check the chicken before removing from the oven. It should be dry and hard, not soft or chewy. Allow the chicken to cool completely before serving.

Store the jerky in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.


You can substitute sweet potatoes for the chicken in this recipe.

Today we are going to talk about some new treats that we have tried from VetIQ!!  They are MADE in the USA!!!  WOOHOO!!  I thought I was going to go out of my mind today looking at dog treats in the store as many of the companies have cooked up a new scheme for us...they have changed some of the packaging and in teeny, tiny little letters...the treats will say...Made in China.  But in GREAT BIG Letters, it will say TESTED in the USA. 

They think they have us fooled!!  So PAY Attention Peeps!!  I am really going to try to post this again.  I have written it three times and keep losing my internet connection for some reason...

These new treats are called VetIQ Hip&Joint and VetIQ Minties!!

Tasty Tuesday: For those HOT Days!!

My girlz LOVE Smoothies!!

Take one half cup of plain yogurt (or the fat free vanilla)

Blend in about a half a cup of blueberries or strawberries.

Turn on the blender and blend it up with some ice...I pour it into their "ice cream" dishes and they just love it!!

LadyBug happens to love Watermelon and would probably eat an entire one if I let her!! Miss Chloe does NOT touch watermelon...to each her own I guess!!

Easter Bunny Treats

OK....admittedly the Easter Bunny did bring us some other types of things besides treats this year...he brought us BUBBLES to play with!!  And Glow Collars for us to wear at the RV Park so that people can see us!! And a squeaky frog!

Tasty Tuesday: Tuna Brownies!!

Mama dug this recipe out of the archives and is not even sure of where she got the recipe...but we would like to give credit to the Bichon List...pretty sure that's where it came from!!

Tuna Brownies

Preheat oven to 250.

Place in mixing bowl:

2 cans tuna, DRAINED
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder

Blend well into a doughy ball...spread about 1/4 inch thick on big greased cookie sheet.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden (like SUGAR ... BOL!!)

Cut into tiny squares. I cut them into smaller pieces and freeze them in small snack size ziplock bags. They thaw quickly and the dogs will eat them frozen!

The girlz will do just about anything for tuna!!

Tasty Tuesday: The Valentine's Addition!!

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, each year I make this addictive Valentine's Chex Mix snack!! Check it out!!!


4 1/2 cups Rice Chex cereal

1/2 cup white vanilla baking chips

1/4 cup peanut butter

2 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup red, white and pink candy-coated chocolate candies

2 tablespoons red or pink sprinkles



* Place cereal in medium bowl. In small microwavable bowl, microwave vanilla chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth.

* Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated.

* Place 1/2 of the cereal mixture in 1-gallon food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper or foil; cool about 15 minutes. (I find it takes closer to an hour...so it's not so sticky!)

~Here's a tip though...you may have to make a double batch if you are sampling as you go along!!

LadyBug's Banana PB Biscuits Gift Idea!!

Today we would like to share a recipe that can be whipped up in a jiffy to give for holiday gifts for your furry friends!! It is called Banana PB Biscuits!!

You will need:

1 banana, peeled
1 cup oat flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup dried parsley
3 tablespoons peanut butter
1 egg, beaten


And here's what you do!!

Preheat oven to 300°F. Put banana in a large bowl and use a spoon or potato masher to mash it thoroughly. Add oat flour, oats, parsley, peanut butter and egg and stir well to combine. Set aside for 5 minutes.

Roll mixture into 24 balls, using about 1 tablespoon dough for each; transfer to a large parchment paper-lined baking sheet when done. Use the back of a spoon to press each ball into a (1 1/2- to 2-inch) circle shape. Bake until firm and deep golden brown on the bottom, 40 to 45 minutes. Set aside to let cool completely.

Storage note: It's best to store these in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Or, freeze them to give to your pal later; just be sure to thaw the treats before handing them out.

These can be packaged up in little bags and tied with pretty bows to give out for gifts!!

My girlz always prefer their treats heated just a bit in the microwave...gives the treats better flavor!

And...who says my girlz are spoiled????

Tasty Tuesday: Our Home-Cooked Meal

Guess What??? Mama cooked us a SPECIAL meal! The same kind that THEY eat!! She was talking to Silvie's momma and she said that 'vie, JD, and the Wendy have all been doing GREAT on just regular, you know...people food!! So...mama decided to give it a try!! Just take a look at what we had to eat the last couple of nights!

Here is the first step...she put mixed vegetables in the little Cuisinart chopper....we had cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli...mixed with 95% Laura's Lean Ground Beef.

Now you will notice that mama also added in a tsp of Organic Coconut Oil...which we LOVE!!!  We even LICK the spoon!!

Here ...we are wondering WHY on earth she is taking pictures of us while we are trying to enjoy our delicious dinner???

OK, LadyBug spilled a couple of pieces of carrot, but that is ONLY because she was trying to stuff it into her mouth as quickly as possible...she was eating at LIGHTNING speed!!  Just look at those clean bowls!!  The picture you see below is what THEY ate...vegetable lasagne.  We got a little taste of the cheese from that and it was GREAT!!

So far, we are very happy with our experiment!!  Thank you Silvie's momma!!!  You are the BEST!!
