Personal Choices: Oscar's Fashion 2018

Here are my quick pics for Best Dressed:

My absolute favorite was Jennifer Garner!

She looked fantastic!!  Beautiful color on her!

And here are my runner-ups!

Allison Janney in Reem Acra

Laura Dern in Calvin Klein

Viola Davis in Michael Kors

For my Worst Dressed...I just was not a fan of Whoopie Goldberg's Dress.  While I realize it is more "dressed up" than she normally is...I just didn't think it worked on her.  (or maybe it is because I am not a huge fan of giant flowers....(it kind of reminded me of a pair of drapes my grandmother used to have).

Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton

I personally feel that Emma Stone's outfit was suited for a much more casual event.  The Academy Awards have always been Hollywood Glam.  Maybe she wanted to just change it up a bit, but I just didn't think this particular outfit was appropriate for this event.

Overall, Jimmy Kimmel did a good job.  He is pretty solid at this!  I was not a fan of the number of times that politics were brought up ... not that it isn't an important issue.  I prefer to keep my political opinions private.

Academy Awards and Catch Up!

As most of you know, I am a HUGE movie fan and go at least once a week to our local theatre.  I look forward to the Academy Awards each year...not for the movies, per se, but for the FASHION.  My girls will be joining me front and center on Sunday to watch the Red Carpet festivities.  Romey will probably go out for a beer with Ben :)

The awards themselves have gotten a little bit TOO political for my taste as I keep my personal views on politics to myself and do not appreciate the actors getting up on stage and throwing all of their opinions at me...regardless of whether anyone cares or not.

In other news, I have just been swamped here with lots of "stuff" going on.  Trying to get my act together to get packed for the trip south.  I have an entire room full of things I took out of the RV when we sold it.  Now I have to decide where to put it all.  Much of it was going to be moved to the cottage, but I don't have a ton of extra storage room up there.  It is only about 1000 square feet.  So, some of it may have to be sold.  Just having to sort through it all takes time.

My oral surgery went well...I truly appreciate the surgeon who I go to.  Now, big decisions have to be made on next steps.  My regular dentist retired so I have to figure out who I will go to now.  I am always a little bit nervous starting out with someone new.  I am anxious about it because the other two bridges in my mouth were all put in during the same timeframe...about 34 years ago.  I am thinking that they may all be in need of replacing.  That can mean some serious money.

Chloe seems to be aging by the day.  There are just little changes we are noticing.  She cannot hear or see much anymore and she just seems to be kind of uncomfortable.  I think she is suffering from arthritis...much like our big guy did as he aged.  I am very worried about how she will do on our road trip.  The vet has given her a prescription but it does not seem to have much effect on her.  We are probably going to have to stop about every two hours.

That's it for now folks.  My apologies for not being around much.  I will certainly try to get back in to the groove again!

My Take on The Oscar's 2016...

Of course you knew that I would be discussing my Best Dressed Picks today!! But, first, let me tell you...in my opinion, there was WAY too much time spent on the whole diversity thing.  It was not necessary to keep bringing up the issue.  If it was mentioned in the opening monologue and that was it, I would have been fine with it.  But, no.....they had to keep bringing it up every five minutes!

Anyway, Cate Blanchett looked pretty in this aqua number!

 Alicia Vikander in "Dusty Yellow"

Brie Larson in my absolute FAVE color...Cobalt Blue!!

Charlize Theron always looks perfect in Dior.  I don't think I can ever remember her looking anything but perfect!

I thought Jennifer Garner looked great!

Not too many people could carry off this look, but YES, Kerry Washington / Olivia Pope CAN and DID!  It was HANDLED!

Naomi Watts always looks so sweet!  Loved the colors of her dress.

What can I say...Sofia Vergara never misses a beat!  Perfection!

I thought Tina Fey looked better than usual!  She has had some not too great Red Carpet moments..this one was a WIN!

I was also surprised to learn that the interviewers were told not to ask the women "Who they were wearing".  WHAT????  I have been watching the Awards Shows for a very long time and I never knew that the actresses were upset that they were asked what designer made their dress.  I was really surprised that #askmemore was a trending hashtag on Twitter!

I just didn't get as much out of this year's show...and I am somewhat disappointed I guess.  I was happy that Leo DiCaprio finally won.  His acting in "Revenant" was AWESOME!

I was NOT HAPPY that Sylvester Stallone did not win for Creed.  He DESERVED that award.  Not that Mark Rylance wasn't deserving...his role was very good in Steven Spielberg's Cold War thriller, "Bridge of Spies".

Lady Gaga's performance was very emotional and the audience was moved to tears.  It was a very powerful performance.

It was quite a surprise to everyone, I think, that the night's most prestigious award went to “Spotlight,” about the Boston Globe’s investigation into decades of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. The film also won for best original screenplay.

So...that is my take on tonight's awards!

The girls decided they'd rather nap in front of the fire...

It's HERE! Academy Awards 2016!

Anyone who has been reading my blog for any length of time knows that I am a die-hard Oscar's fan!!  I make a day of it!  I LOVE watching the pre-show on E Entertainment TV.  I am totally tuned in to the fashion, the hair, the shoes, the nails...you name it!!

We will have a nice fire in the fireplace as it is quite chilly outside and I would like to be nice and cozy while watching my favorite show!  The girls will be right there with me dressed up in there Academy Awards Minks...with the down blankets and a few Academy Awards Snacks!

I'd like to see Leonardo DiCaprio win this year for The Revenant...he totally deserves it!  Although, I would not be at all upset if it was Matt Damon ... as I truly enjoyed his performance as well!

I am joining Ruckus and Earl's World for Sepia Saturday!
Enjoy your weekend!

Our Oscar Night: The Re-Cap!

We thoroughly enjoyed our Oscar Night!  The girls were served their special Academy Award Cheese Snacks on pink napkins...although LadyBug couldn't eat hers until I broke it into a zillion pieces.  They did like them though!  They are Himalayan Chews and one of the girls faves!

We dined on Trader Joe's Steak and Ale Pot Pies and Wild Berry Lemonade with salad.

A nice, warm fire in the fireplace was a MUST as it is zero degrees outside!

As a surprise, Ben made us a special Academy Award dessert with some sort of special cherry sauce and Vanilla Bean ice cream.  It was delicious!

Only a few of my predictions came true...I was sad that Bradley Cooper did not win for Best Actor...and "American Sniper" didn't win Best Picture.  I was VERY happy for Julianne Moore as I have heard she did an awesome job in "Still Alice".  I have read the book, but have not yet seen the movie.  I hadn't seen many of the movies that were nominated and since we go weekly...that was a surprise!!  I will see if I can download some of them .... like "Birdman".  I am curious about that one!  I also want to see "Boyhood".

I like Neil Patrick Harris, but I wasn't all that thrilled about his hosting.  I think there have been others who have done a better job.  The "underwear" thing...was a bit much.

My Best Dressed Picks:  (There were SO MANY!!)

Nicole Kidman

Jennifer Aniston

Scarlett Johanssen

Jennifer Lopez

Meryl Streep

Reese Witherspoon

It's HERE! The 2015 Academy Awards!!

My pick for Best Picture this year is American Sniper!  I totally believe that Bradley Cooper deserves Best Actor for his performance in this movie.  He BECAME Chris Kyle.  What a performance!!

Best Actress is a tough one.  I am thinking perhaps Julianne Moore for "Still Alice" or Rosamund Pike for "Gone Girl".

We will have a nice fire in the fireplace as we have dangerous wind chills going on outside and I would like to be nice and cozy while watching my favorite show!  The girls will be right there with me...with the down blankets and a few Academy Awards Snacks!

Dinner will be Trader Joe's Steak and Ale Pies and Sparkling French Berry Lemonade with a Fresh Green Salad and Poppyseed Dressing.

Do you have any favorites?

Academy Awards 2014: The Best, The Worst, and the Bichons!

Tonight was the Academy Awards. Which I love. And I do mean LOVE!!

The Academy Awards are like my own personal SUPERBOWL of Fashion!!
I truly enjoy watching the Red Carpet arrivals on the ET Entertainment Channel...choosing who I think should win best and worst dressed!!!

Since we go to the movies every week, I usually have a pretty good idea of what the good and bad movies are...I will miss some of my old favorites...Tom Cruise, Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon.  There are so many young actresses that I have hardly even heard of!!

I was thrilled that Cate Blanchett won Best Actress!!  I enjoyed the movie Blue Jasmine and I truly thought Cate did an awesome job!  She also gets my vote for one of the Best Dressed.   Cate chose Armani and I thought it looked lovely on her!!

Here are my choices for Best Dressed...

Naomi Watts always gets it right...this time in Calvin Klein.

Meryl Streep, after being nominated 18 times can wear whatever she wants, but she is always a class act!
Here is Meryl  in Lanvin.

I loved Sandra Bullock in Gravity and would have loved to have seen her win Best Actress.  She looked awesome in Alexander McQueen.

The girlz joined me in their couture wear!!

Chloe:

and LadyBug:

Amazingly enough, my daughter is not a fan of any type of awards show, so now, I rely on social media to get my fix on what others are thinking about the awards...how did I ever watch tv before Facebook and Twitter????

And just for the record...

Worst Dressed...in my opinion...
goes to:

Liza Minelli

It is kind of interesting to see different shows and different publications reporting on Best / Worst Dressed...my choices align with Vogue and the pictures here are courtesy of Vogue.
