Thoughtless Thursday: Welcome Spring Edition

Today was an unusually warm day for the end of March!  Not that I am complaining...it really was just a perfect temperature out today...about 67!

I decided to take the girls out back so they could do some exploring.  That is one of the things they miss immensely in the winter...they DO love their exploration time!!

In the top picture, you will see that Miss Chloe is sticking her head all the way down in to a hole in the grass...apparently the skunks have been in the yard...as my husband says...these are the types of marks they make when they are looking for grubs to eat.

Chloe has decided she is just going to plop herself right down in the middle of the yard and enjoy the air for awhile!

The best part of the whole day...my husband cooked tonight!  Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup!

SOOOOOOO Good!!

I am participating in Thoughtless Thursday with Ruckus, Owned by a Husky, and MKClinton.

Bake a Batch of Valentine's Treats for YOUR Local Shelter!!

What a great idea!!  Bake up a batch of these scrumptious treats and drop them off at your local shelter!!  Make some new Valentine's friends!!

Gather your ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked and cooled carrots
  • 1 ripe banana, peeled, or another cup of cooked, cooled vegetables like peas or green beans
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1-1/2 cups peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups white flour, plus more for dusting
  1. Preheat the oven to 325° F (160° C).
  2. Blend the banana and veggies in a food processor. Add the soy milk, peanut butter, and molasses and blend again.
  3. Sift together the whole wheat flour and baking powder, then add to the wet mixture and blend well.
  4. Pour the batter into a large mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of white flour and stir thoroughly. Knead in the second cup of white four, adding more flour if necessary to make a stiff dough. Divide the dough into four parts.
  5. Roll out a piece of dough on a floured board to about 1/8 inch thick. Use a cookie cutter or knife to make heart shapes (or any other Valentine's Day symbol). Place the biscuits onto an ungreased cookie sheet—it's okay to put them close together; they won't spread out.
  6. Bake the biscuits for 10 minutes or until they are just starting to brown. Remove from the oven and turn over the biscuits with a spatula. Return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes. Turn the biscuits again and bake for another 10 minutes. They should be as crisp as crackers.
  7. Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool completely.
  8. Repeat with the other three parts of the dough, or freeze the remaining dough to bake later.
  9. Store the cooled biscuits in a covered container in the refrigerator until you can deliver them.

Are We In The Desert??

OK, I don't mean to complain, but c'mon!!!  I feel like I am in the middle of the desert!  As it happens, I am in Northern New York...you know...the one near the Adirondacks???  It is supposed to be COOL here.

It's not.  Not at all.  This picture was taken at 1:00AM!!

There was a strange haze over the water all day...you could literally see the humidity hanging over the water.

And last of all...I will show you my "Bug Lights"...they really light up my garden at night!

Oh...The Places We Go!

Nothing like fresh, local seafood when traveling!  Above, is my shrimp with sweet potato fries...EXCELLENT!

In addition to the shrimp and fries, Ben had the seafood chowder...which he said was equally as good!

What an interesting place THIS was!  It was typical old Florida...lots of STRANGE things just hanging around...perfect for my picture-taking blog fodder!

Here you will see my Southern Sweet Tea...which I LOVE!  It is my drink of choice when traveling in the south!

Cam you even believe that they charged me $6.00 a pop for those sweet teas??

My husband played on the Senior Olympics Volleyball Team, so he was thrilled that there is a large Volleyball Tournament here all week long.  I don't mind, because while he is watching the volleyball...I can peruse the shops!

It has been very overcast and somewhat rainy for the past couple of weeks...photos do not come out as good!

See the woman in the boat hanging from the ceiling??  Told you there was some interesting stuff to see here!!

This place was quite creative in their design...they painted a bunch of old tires and hung them on the ceiling for the "Color Effect"!

This place is HOPPING at night...very, VERY large bass music until 4am!  It just happens to be across the street from our place...we can hear it from the RV!

Interesting little courtyard linking the front restaurant to the back deck on the gulf...

An old washer found its way in to the garden...who knows where THAT came from??!

Then, there is this red phone booth...presumably for photo opps or selfies!

In case you were looking for Nite Crawlers...here you go!!

And we are off to get some desperately-needed sleep!!

Stop by and see what we are up to tomorrow!

Guess Who's Back????

Thoughtless Thursday

Will you just take a look here???  GUESS who is BACK??

That HUGE CRITTER has invaded our yard yet again!!

He is getting bigger by the day chomping on a very large selection of nice, juicy CHERRIES from the Cherry Tree!!

No wonder the dude won't leave.

We are on the watch again...

At this rate, we had better start Christmas Shopping for him.

It looks like he is going to be a part of the family...

Thoughtless Thursday: TBT SD Edition

On the road in Mitchell, South Dakota!

Chillin' at Rafter J Ranch in Hill City, South Dakota.

The day that the girls discovered that cats really DO live INSIDE some people's homes!!

Chloe just couldn't seem to understand....just could not wrap her head around the fact that there was ACTUALLY a cat sitting on that chair...right in front of her!!
