A Relaxing Weekend...

We had a very relaxing weekend and the weather was simply perfect!!   We had a lakefront barbecue to attend and the girls were not happy to stay home, but there were several rather BIG dogs that were going to be running around, so we decided the girls would be much more comfortable at home.     If we had the stroller, I might have taken them, but to be honest, they just don't do well with crowds, so their anxiety level was much better if they just waited for us at home!

We were made to enjoy music, to enjoy beautiful sunsets, to enjoy looking at the billows of the sea and to be thrilled with a rose that is bedecked with dew… Human beings are actually created for the transcendent, for the sublime, for the beautiful, for the truthful... and all of us are given the task of trying to make this world a little more hospitable to these beautiful things.

The Catty Shack Visit

We went on the coolest tour the other day!  The people that run The Catty Shack in Jacksonville, Florida are so passionate about their wild animals...they even have names for them all!

Thoughtless Thursday: The Never Ending Winter Edition

This has to be the longest winter we have had in a VERY long time!!  It seems as if it has lasted forever.

It's no secret that dogs get bored, just like we humans do.  Dogs need stimulation in their world too!!

We have a series of games that we play, but when the weather has been SO COLD that we haven't been able to spend much time outside, we had to come up with some new versions.

One of the games is hide and seek with small pieces of "Nudges" which the girlz absolutely LOVE!!  Chloe could have a job as a drug dog.  If there is ONE piece of chicken anywhere in the house...she will find it.

If there is one mouse in the storage room, she WILL find it...come hell or high water!!  We can always count on Miss Chloe to find what she's set her mind to!!

If Only...

there was more time....just a couple more weeks built in to this time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Does anyone else feel like they are at the starting gate and somebody just said, "GO!"??

There is shopping to do, cookies to be baked, parties to be attended, presents to be wrapped, decorating to be done, cards to be addressed and mailed...

I could use an assistant!  Let's face it...couldn't most of us??  I took a few minutes yesterday to look through our recent photos (before the snowstorm!)...it is absolutely amazing how fast the seasons go by. Doesn't it kind of seem like we just put all of last year's Christmas decorations away??

And then...on December 26th, we will be looking at each other ... going ... "It's over already??"

I think I am feeling a bit more pressure this year because I know that I have a week's worth of oral surgery to go through and I know that is going to make a huge dent in my ability to accomplish everything I want to get done!!

So let's all try to slow it down and try to enjoy the next four weeks...

The race is ON!
