Happy Anniversary!

We celebrate 17 years...

We always go to the same place...near the cottage...it is THE best restaurant...

It is located in Sackets Harbor and is called Tin Pan Galley!

I give it my highest recommendation!!

It just so happens that our Anniversary Date also coincides with the Prom Date of the local schools...and it's always fun to look at each year's prom fashions!!

Weird Week

It's going to be a weird week....and it has only just begun!! Didn't spend Monday with Meish because I was feeling lousy .... like I was coming down with something. She had a cold last week...I do not want to get sick before we go away!

Tuesday is normally the day we decide which movie we are going to see. Not this Tuesday. Chloe's got a vet appointment this afternoon for her annual visit, Bordetella vaccine, and I have to get her set up with flea meds and heartworm medication for the trip. Zippo's visit is on Friday this week.

Last Thursday we picked up Ben's son's car at the airport and drove it home at FOUR AM!! And we have to drive it back to the airport tonight so that the car will be there when he arrives back at the airport. Parking the car at the airport is getting ridiculously expensive these days. So, we decided to just pick it up and leave it at our house while he was gone.

I'm still busy planning and preparing....STUFF! Ordered a couple more books and some toys for the dogs to take with us. My medications have been ordered and are in the process of being delivered.

One step at a time. That's what I keep telling myself.

That. And. WRITE EVERYTHING down. LISTS. Lots and lots of Lists!!

BREATHE. Ommmmmmmmmmm.

Yoga, anyone??

Sadly, It is That Time Again

Time to close the cottage again for the season. The whole process makes me sad. Tons of freakin' packing to do. Must take anything that will freeze OUT and take it home. So we have to remove batteries from everything and go through every single drawer, closet, cabinet....etc. Remove everything out of the cabinets and the fridge / freezer and defrost. Take all the outside sporting equipment, tables / chairs, yard ornaments and put them all in the basement. Then we have to empty all of the flower pots, rinse, and store them away for the winter. Sort through all the towels and bedding and decide which goes home and which stays here. The docks have all been brought in and the water system must be drained and winterized at the cottage. The jetski and the boat have already been done.

It takes us several weeks to go through this process. Although you'd think we'd have it down to a science by now! We do it in reverse in the spring. It makes me sad because as much as I love the fall season, I do NOT enjoy winter. I'm not an outdoorsy person anyway, and if I didn't have to go outside in the winter, I just wouldn't!! I was in an accident the winter before last when the roads were very icy. Scared the hell out of me. I DETEST driving in winter weather - really wet weather.

So we are going to our favorite restaurant, Tin Pan Galley, tonight to celebrate (probably not a good way to put it) the end of the season. It is something we do every year.

Holiday Weekend

I am very surprised that we have not seen more campers coming in this weekend. Our cottage is located on a road that ends on a private island....a private island that also happens to be an RV Resort. Normally, on Friday nights and Sunday nights, the traffic gets to be rather annoying for a backroads little town. Not today. One wouldn't even be aware that it is a Friday - much less a holiday weekend! I guess the news is right. More people are staying home. More people are NOT TRAVELLING. Well, as long as we are here at the cottage....I give you a few more views of my life here...

I'll Spare You The Details

You wouldn't have wanted to go through what I did for the last couple of days. I will not be eating at McDonald's anytime soon.

I was supposed to be celebrating my 15th wedding anniversary Saturday night at
Tin Pan Galley...as most of you know is my very favorite restaurant. Had to cancel the reservations. Drove back home from the cottage tonight and will be headed back up there on Wednesday to celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend. We will also be celebrating our anniversary....a little later than planned.

The much younger, thinner version of me!

DLyn tagged me for a meme of Front Door / Back Door photos awhile ago...so since I was at the cottage I give you the view from the front and the back! Hopefully I'll be feeling better tomorrow.

Catch Up

Well, let's see. It's been so busy around here, I'm not quite sure whether I am coming or going. The last couple of weeks has seemed like constant packing and unpacking. Actually it WAS. Had a great weekend at the cottage as the weather was nothing short of perfect. Saturday night, we joined friends of ours for dinner at our favorite restaurant, Tin Pan Galley. Dinner was absolutely fabulous....Sea scallops pan seared, finished with a roasted red pepper sauce, served over lobster sweet potato cakes and my husband had the Bouillabaisse lobster, shrimp, clams & mussels in a traditional bouillabaisse served with grilled bread. Our appetizer was so good...our favorite Five spice calamari served with a Thai sweet chili sauce. It wasn't a particularly long dinner as we had to get back to the dogs. Our friends had a new puppy with them who had never been left alone, and we of course, had LadyBug...her first night at the cottage without us. So we went home and watched the most hilarious movie!! It was called Death at a Funeral. OMG, it was hysterical in a twisted British humor sort of way. What a terrific night!!

Movie night with my sister is tomorrow...we're going to see the new Tina Fey movie...let you know how it is!!

When Depressed...Shop! Baby! Shop!

When I'm feeling down in the dumps or something is bothering me, I shop. That's just the way I am. I love to shop. Now this type of hobby can get one in a heap of trouble if not careful. Enter Online Shopping. I can shop and shop to my heart's content...put everything into the shopping cart...then CLOSE out the site and log off. No money spent. No harm done. Now some of you might think this is kind of stupid. It's just a game. And this game doesn't cost anything. And it's MY game, so I don't really care if you think it's stupid or not. Of course, I would rather go to the mall and fill up a cart, but then I would have to pay for all of the stuff that I purchase! A couple of sites that I really like to shop at:

At Amazon, I can always find something I like!!

All That Scraps is one of my absolute favorite online card / scrapbooking store! And she even gives Bug Bucks! I ordered some things on Friday, and they arrived in my mailbox today ! How's that for service?

One of my new favorite discoveries...kind of like a little online mall full of little boutiques...loveitalot!

It's Not an Age, It's an ATTITUDE!!

So...I'm late again...putting way to much pressure on myself to blog regularly....I believe. Had a nice birthday dinner on Saturday night at Tin Pan Galley This place has absolutely amazing gourmet food. Been eating there for years and have never, EVER, had anything even remotely bad. I had the Sea Scallops pan seared, finished with sherry - roasted red pepper sauce and served with lobster - sweet potato cakes. As an appetizer, the Five Spice Calamari is the BEST!! One really interesting fact though was that we were the ONLY two people in the entire restaurant. There was a caribbean / reggae / soft jazz type band playing out on the patio....everyone wanted to eat outside. I, however, do NOT tolerate humidity well at all. Something about not being able to breathe. So, we ate inside in the nice air-conditioned and very private dining room. If you are ever in Sackets Harbor, ya gotta check this place out. It is to DIE for!! And so. I am now 49. But, it's not an age....It is an ATTITUDE!!
