Saturday Pet Blog Hop

Food poisoning has surfaced in our house again so this time our dad is not feeling well...we have been trying to help him relax and just lie around and get better.

Sheesh...what is going on??  Mama had the very same thing a couple of weeks ago.  We really do think that it is from the pizza place that we recently started ordering from, but we can't prove anything!!

Tasty Tuesday: The Healthy Edition

We have all read lately that obesity in pets is becoming a problem...an epidemic of sorts. Here are a few suggestions for things that you can feed your dog...as "Healthy Treat Substitutes"

And it is a real PLUS that they are much cheaper than purchasing costly dog treats!!

Vegetables

Anyone who's ever seen a dog eat grass or greens knows there's a vegetarian side to your pet. Before domestication, when dogs hunted for their living, they ate portions of their prey, which contained a considerable amount of digested vegetable matter. Most animals still want some of this vegetation, but can't digest the tough fibrous components on their own. Try offering your dog some cooked green beans, carrots or peas. Many pets love them, and you can even mix them into their regular diet.

Rice, Popcorn and Pasta

Other favorites for many pets are rice, popcorn and pasta. A bit of a rice cake or some air popped popcorn is a great substitute for a high fat treat. Cooked rice can be added for bulk to a weight control diet. It's a way of giving your pet more food without adding a lot of fat calories. Cooked pasta is also great. Chloe and LadyBug sure do relish a few elbow pieces of macaroni or spaghetti!!

Egg Whites, Cottage Cheese and Yogurt

A cooked egg white is a great protein treat, hard boil a few and keep them on hand. (The yolk has all the fat!) A little dab of cottage cheese or plain yogurt substitutes for licking that ice cream bowl!

Let's Go For a Walk!

Come On!! Let's go for a walk!!

The girlz love going for a walk...we back up to farmland and it is a terrific place for us all to play!

Here's a few views of what we saw today! It was one of those perfect summer days...low humidity, nice temp in the mid seventies, bright sunshine!

Great Stuff! Now...if we could only figure out how to keep it that way ALL the time!!

Floridian Hike

As most of you know, I am not very tolerant of heat and humidity.  This would be the reason we go south during the March / April timeframe.  We usually beat the real hot humid weather.

Not true this year!!  It was HOT.  It was HUMID!!  Especially on this particular day when we decided to venture to the Gamble Rogers Recreation Area.   I can assure you that the aforementioned hike did not last very long!!  Before I passed out, we had to book for the Air Conditioned Car.

My husband needs a new hiking partner!!

The girlz are not tolerant of these conditions either!!

We were not camping at this park, we just happened upon it while cruising down A1A on Easter Sunday and decided to check it out.  During the part of the video where Ben looks like he is walking rather "funny" he was pretending the avoid the snakes!

It's Birthday Month!!

Posted by Picasa
My very busy birthday month is almost at a close...went through my daughter, my husband, my SIL, Chloe and LadyBug's birthdays...my mom was also born in January and I always remember her in a special way.

Had a fabulous dinner at Simply Crepes and came back home for dessert.  It is FRIGID outside tonight...the temperature right now is 6.  Can you believe it...SIX!!  I am so ready to head South!!

Been working on alot of cards lately too...mostly birthdays!  I do have several thank you notes still to do...and my other SIL's birthday is Feb. 1st.  Stopped into Michael's tonight to stock up on some more paper.  They were having a terrific sale!

I needed to get a form notarized the other day and called our local library to find out whether they still had a Notary on staff.  I found out our library had MOVED.  Isn't that weird??  Anyway...found out that they had done a complete renovation and will be back in the old building in the spring.  What a huge undertaking THAT must have been...moving ALL those books!!!  Another reason why I am enjoying my Kindle so much...don't have to haul around all those books!!

Ride Along With Me...

Since we never ended up bringing my scooter to the cottage last year, I decided it was high time I took a ride around town to see what was new!!

This picture shows a bit of what I saw on my ride today!! I just love riding around town!!

Was also playing with the settings on my camera and I had to include a picture of the girlz hanging out!!

Thankful Thursday

I am truly thankful for DATE Nights!!

Each week we decide on an activity...which sometimes is a Movie Night...if there is something interesting playing at our local theatre. We have a small neighborhood theatre here in town which is a bit less expensive...not much, but a little less than the larger theatre complexes. The best part of it is that it is only about ten minutes from the house!

When my daughter was over on Monday, we decided to check out the Back Up Plan with Jennifer Lopez. Ok, so maybe it was a little rom-com...but one of those is good once in awhile! Just go and have fun and forget about all your troubles! We loved it!! Of course, we are both fans of Jennifer and have been for a very long time!

So....

Tonight my husband came up with the idea of visiting the Finger Lakes Casino

We've been meaning to check out their buffet dinner forever, but we just never got around to it. Until tonight!

Well...let me tell you...it is FABULOUS!!! One gets to experience a Tuscan atmosphere at the "All You Can Eat" Vineyard Buffet! It is a 10,000-square foot buffet which features the tastes of the Mediterranean, the Southwest, regional favorites, All-American, fresh carved selections, seafood, and the finest salad and dessert bars you’ll find anywhere in the region!

Holy Moly! It was great...and we highly recommend it!!

Then we checked out the slot machines...which are always a kick!!

Playing the penny slots, I actually won 27 bucks!

What a great time we had!!

I just love Date Nights!!

Do you have any fun activities that you and your friends and/or spouse do???

Tell me! Tell me!!

Always lookin' for ideas!!

There Was This Piano...

There was this piano that we needed to get rid of. We tried to give it away but no one wanted it. I should say that no one wanted to come and get it. So, my husband took it into his own hands and took it apart...piece by piece...and this is the sequence of events...
